Solus Christus (Christ Alone) | Reformation Series | Roman 3:19-26 | Seye Maj'

In this sermon, we were reminded that salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. Our Bible reading (Romans 3:19–26) teaches us that we are justified freely by God’s grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. Righteousness did not originate from us, and we have nothing to boast in except the Lord. So rather than exalting the gifts and blessings we receive as a result of God’s grace, we should give all glory to the Giver of that grace, to whom it rightly belongs. As J. I. Packer explains, justification is a judicial act in which God pardons sinners, accepts them as just, and permanently puts them right with Him. Left to ourselves, we are condemned, but God justifies sinners on the merit of Christ. In justifying the ungodly, God did not pervert His justice. Through Christ’s sacrifice, the demands of justice were satisfied, demonstrating that God is both just and the justifier of those who have faith in Jesus (Romans 3:26). By His obedience, righteousness is imputed to us, and we are justified by His blood (Romans 5:19; 5:9).It is now without doubt that our salvation rests entirely in Christ. His name is enough, His rule is enough, and His sacrifice is enough. Nothing can be added to qualify us for salvation, for we contributed nothing to it. Everything we have is found in Christ alone, who is preeminent in our salvation.
