100 New Courses in 2023 with Josh Kemp
Thousand Greens is the social network for members of private golf clubs seeking camaraderie through golf. Golf Anywhere, Friends Everywhere. Today, we quickly check-in with Founding Member and certifiable golf travel nut Josh Kemp. Josh is in the middle of a one year marathon to visit 100 courses he has not yet played. While Josh’s journey is certainly the envy of many (even those listening to this podcast), I admire his reasons for doing this trek and how he’s going about building relationships with the folks he’s meeting. Member Guest Tournaments with Nik Divakaruni
Thousand Greens is the social network for members of private golf clubs seeking camaraderie through golf. Golf Anywhere, Friends Everywhere. Today, we dive into the world of member guest events. My good friend and soon to be multiple time member guest partner, Nik Divakaruni joins me to discuss the finer points of formats, picking the right partner, strategy, and how to have the best time possible during these events. While it’s still a little early in the season, it’s not a bad time to think about signing up for these events at your club. Listeners, please stick around after the music to hear about Nik’s work with the First tee of Oakland. I personally spend my time working with the First tee of San Francisco, and we both encourage you to do whatever you can to support your local organization. We mentioned a couple of clothing companies during our discussion. While there’s no free advertising on the TG pod, we like to give credit where credit is due. Below are links to the clothes we wore during our last member guest event. https://hreski.com/shop/golf-pants/tropical-fruits-golf-pants-hreski-130/ (https://hreski.com/shop/golf-pants/tropical-fruits-golf-pants-hreski-130/) https://sundayswagger.com/products/the-gambler?variant=39805840588992&currency=USD&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=google&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic&utm_source=google&utm_medium=paid&utm_campaign=17232691642&utm_content=&utm_term=&gadid=&gclid=CjwKCAjw8-OhBhB5EiwADyoY1TH5sGta6GOiqVC-9qv86rkVweM9eCpAbwTkNJka8hdvVGCuPvlEAxoCrIMQAvD_BwE (https://sundayswagger.com/products/the-gambler?variant=39805840588992&currency=USD&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=google&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic&utm_source=google&utm_medium=paid&utm_campaign=17232691642&utm_content=&utm_term=&gadid=&gclid=CjwKCAjw8-OhBhB5EiwADyoY1TH5sGta6GOiqVC-9qv86rkVweM9eCpAbwTkNJka8hdvVGCuPvlEAxoCrIMQAvD_BwE) If you like what you hear, please like, subscribe, share, and of course, sign up at www.thousandgreens.com (http://www.thousandgreens.com/). How to do Bandon Dunes, the TG way.
Thousand Greens is the social network for members of private golf clubs seeking camaraderie through golf. Golf Anywhere, Friends Everywhere. Three previous guests of the TG podcast come back to talk everything Bandon Dunes. We talk about everything you need to know to plan a great trip, what to take with you, which courses they love, and how to have the best experience possible. A few other notes: This episode was recorded just before the announcement of the new 19 hole par three course at Bandon. You can be sure we’re all itching to go play it. See more here: https://linksmagazine.com/bandon-dunes-set-to-add-a-19-hole-par-3-as-its-7th-course?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=insider3.14.23 (https://linksmagazine.com/bandon-dunes-set-to-add-a-19-hole-par-3-as-its-7th-course?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=insider3.14.23) Dmay reminds all first timers to check out “Dream Golf: The Making of Bandon Dunes” by Stephen Goodwin before your trip. Available at Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/Dream-Golf-Making-Revised-Expanded/dp/1565129814/ref=sr_1_1?crid=10SAGB9PRV82W&keywords=dream+golf&qid=1680470557&sprefix=dream+golf%2Caps%2C188&sr=8-1 (https://www.amazon.com/Dream-Golf-Making-Revised-Expanded/dp/1565129814/ref=sr_1_1?crid=10SAGB9PRV82W&keywords=dream+golf&qid=1680470557&sprefix=dream+golf%2Caps%2C188&sr=8-1)) or anywhere you get your books. In all of our discussions, we failed to point out that the shuttle service at Bandon is all-world. Be sure you take advantage of it as much as possible, and take tip money if you want to look like a regular. We don’t say enough great things about the staff and management at the resort. Without a doubt, they are a huge contributing factor to the experience for everyone that takes the trip.
