Celtic’s Ferry no-brainer as Fin stakes Dundee No.10 claim
Dundee United’s Premier Sports Cup campaign hangs in the balance despite a fine 4-0 win over Arbroath in midweek. We pick the bones out of that triumph, including Lachie Rose’s burgeoning momentum and Zac Sapsford’s blistering start to the season. Lorenzo Sassetti is now the youngest ever Dundee United player, aged 15 years, five months and 12 days, so we chat about the potential of the Italian kid and teammate Cohen Leiper, 16 – and the biggest question facing youth development. On the transfer front, Will Ferry is on Celtic’s radar – as he obviously should be – and United have held talks regarding Abdoulaye Bayo. For Dundee, Fin Robertson scored a screamer, but it wasn’t enough to claim a win at Ross County as as “evergreen” Brian Graham helped the Highlanders secure a 1-1 draw and penalty kick triumph. Did the Dee’s homegrown midfielder do enough to earn a regular place behind the striker? Kieran O’Hara has pressed his claim to be Dundee’s first-choice keeper, but Bear reckons there is still plenty of work to be done in the transfer market. The Dark Blues must get back on track against Clyde on Saturday. The Courier head of sport Sean Hamilton is joined by Alan Temple and Graeme Finnan in our Meadowside studio. Dundee United swoop for Ndinga and it’s Sharp focus at Dee
Dundee United are closing in on signing No.10 of the summer. The team chat about what to expect from Philadelphia Union left-back Phillipe Ndinga, who is expected to join the club in the coming days. The Congo U/20 international will provide competition for Will Ferry, who was back in the Tangerines’ team on Saturday and produced a splendid display against Arbroath. There’s also focus on Julius Eskesen, Bert Esselink and why United need to hit the goal trail when The Spartans come to town. Across the road, it was an afternoon to forget for Dundee keeper Harry Sharp against Everton. Graeme Finnan, formerly a fine keeper with Lochee United and Dundee North End (among others), assesses an error-strewn showing – and whether there were any positives to take from the visit of the Toffees. And is there a hint of Luke Graham about Charley Oosenbrugh? Alan Temple is joined by Graeme Finnan for this Monday’s episode. You can also see us on YouTube at youtube.com/@TheCourierUK/videos

Utd’s Montrose shock and the curious case of Aaron Donnelly at Dundee
Dundee United lost 1-0 at Montrose thanks to Ross Graham’s howler – how bad was it against the Mighty Mo? What does it mean for skipper Graham? And which forgotten star is making a case for a comeback? While United made hard work of things on the east coast, Dundee were making light work of things in the south. They smashed Annan 5-0 with Charlie Reilly stealing the show once more. How did new signing Zan Besir get on? And what is going on with Aaron Donnelly? In the studio alongside host Sean Hamilton are Courier Sport writers Alan Temple and George Cran and ex-Tele Sport editor Graeme Finnan.
