The Monitor Files: The Curious Case of Jason Craig. Part 1

Shawn Fain promised a UAW built on democracy and accountability. The Curious Case of Jason Craig asks what happens when those values collide with the International President’s power to fire staff. Craig challenged his termination—and lost. If the UAW fights arbitrary power on the shop floor, what standard should apply when that power is exercised inside Solidarity House?

UAW United: From Reform to a Battle-Tested Culture of Retaliation.

Dave Green’s Region 2B was supposed to represent reform. Instead, the UAW Monitor found a pattern of political pressure, staff being tracked for who they supported, threats of “consequences,” and workers fearing transfers, bad assignments, or retaliation for backing the wrong candidate. The Monitor found Green’s supposed demand for “neutrality” was anything but neutral: supporters of his campaign were treated differently, while opposition support was discouraged. The result was serious enough for the Monitor to find election-rule violations and issue an immediate cease-and-desist order. Reform was the promise. Retaliation is what the Monitor documented.

There’s Something About Shawn: Women, Whistleblowers & Retaliation A very special episode.

What happens when women inside the UAW challenge the most powerful man in the union? In this episode of The Monitor Files, we examine what appears to be a disturbing pattern surrounding UAW President Shawn Fain and women who have questioned his leadership, challenged his administration, exposed internal problems, or refused to stay quiet. These aren’t anonymous internet rumors. We look at the documented disputes, allegations of retaliation, internal power struggles, whistleblower complaints, and the treatment of women who found themselves on the wrong side of the President’s Office. Is this simply hardball union politics—or does Shawn Fain have a much bigger problem with strong women who refuse to fall in line? We examine the documents, the history, and the people involved and let the membership decide. The Monitor Files exists for one reason: the dues-paying membership deserves to know what is happening inside their union—even when the people involved would rather keep it quiet.

Confidential Story Submissions to The Monitor Files- monitorfiles@proton.me

The Monitor Files is an independent, anonymous podcast produced by rank-and-file UAW members committed to accountability, transparency, and giving dues-paying members a place to be heard. Every day, members and employees across the union tell stories of retaliation, intimidation, harassment, threats, and fear of speaking openly about what is happening inside the UAW. The Monitor Files exists because people should not have to risk their jobs, their standing in the union, or their livelihoods simply for telling the truth. Our anonymity is intentional. It is designed to protect contributors, witnesses, sources, and those producing the podcast from potential retaliation, harassment, discipline, termination, or other consequences—including concerns involving individuals working in or around the UAW President’s Office. We are looking for documented information: emails, text messages, letters, reports, official records, screenshots, meeting notes, or other evidence that can be independently reviewed. We will review submissions, verify what can reasonably be verified, remove identifying information unless you specifically authorize its use, and tell the story in a way designed to protect the people who come forward. Rumors are not enough. Documentation matters. If you have a story the dues-paying membership deserves to know, contact: monitorfiles@proton.me The Monitor Files — because accountability should not depend on who you know, what office you hold, or whether you're afraid to speak.

Margaret vs Goliath, How one reformer took on the administration caucus.

In this episode of The Monitor Files, we take a closer look at the battle between UAW Secretary-Treasurer Margaret Mock and the forces lined up against her inside the union. What happens when an elected member of the International Executive Board challenges the way business is being conducted at the highest levels of the UAW? We examine the internal conflict, the role of the federal monitor, questions surrounding compliance and accountability, and the larger fight over transparency and power inside the union. This isn't just about Margaret Mock. It's about what happens when elected leaders challenge the system, who has the authority to demand answers, and ultimately who the UAW leadership is accountable to. Margaret vs. Goliath — another chapter in The Monitor Files.

The monitor files special. The Old "Look! A Squirrel!" Strategy: Follow the Distraction, Not the Grand Jury

Leaked transcripts raise new questions about the messaging coming from UAW leadership. In this breakdown, we examine the records, separate fact from narrative, and discuss whether the focus on Gaza was being used to divert attention from issues affecting UAW members at home. Listen to the audio, review the evidence, and decide for yourself. The goal isn't spin—it's transparency, accountability, and keeping the membership informed. The Monitor files special report: The One-Armed Man Defense and Other Fairy Tales for Sycophants

In this episode of Monitor Files, we examine the growing gap between the narrative and the documented evidence. When confronted with emails, text messages, sworn testimony, official reports, and their own words, some leaders resort to what can only be described as the "One-Armed Man Defense"—blaming everyone and everything except themselves. We'll walk through the receipts, compare the claims to the documented facts, and explore why some supporters continue to defend conduct that would be condemned if anyone else had done it. At what point does loyalty become sycophancy? When does defending leadership become defending the indefensible? This episode isn't about personalities. It's about accountability. The receipts exist. The reports exist. The evidence exists. The question is whether people are willing to read it. Because when the receipts are public and the excuses keep changing, the truth becomes harder and harder to hide. The receipts don't lie. The question is: who still believes the liars?

Episode 7 "I Would Have Gotten Away With It Too, If It Wasn't for the Meddling Monitor!"

The 16th Report: Shawn Fain's Seven Deadly Sins The UAW Federal Monitor's Sixteenth Status Report delivers one of the most significant findings of the monitorship era. After investigating the removal of Vice President Rich Boyer from oversight of the Stellantis Department, the Monitor concluded that the allegations used to justify the action were not substantiated and that the removal was retaliatory. From unsupported allegations and deleted evidence to staff ultimatums, personal benefit controversies, and findings of abuse of authority, the report raises serious questions about leadership, accountability, and the exercise of power within the UAW. Join us as we break down the findings of the Sixteenth Status Report, examine the seven allegations at the center of the case, and explore what may become known as Shawn Fain's Seven Deadly Sins. Seven allegations. Seven deadly sins. One explosive report.

Craig, Karnafel, Taylor... Oh My! Behind the Curtain: A Monitor Files Investigation into the CAC

apologies for the audio issues. In this special edition of Monitor Files, we take a closer look at the Constitutional Appeals Committee, the people who serve on it, and the role it plays in reviewing member appeals. From Craig to Karnafel to Taylor, we'll follow the paper trail, examine decisions, and ask whether the appeals process is delivering accountability, transparency, and fairness to the membership. We'll also examine the ongoing debate surrounding at-will employment within the UAW. While President Shawn Fain has been a vocal critic of at-will employment when it comes to employers and workers, critics argue that at-will appointments and removals within the union raise important questions about consistency and accountability. Is there a double standard? Is it a case of "do as I say, not as I do," or are the situations fundamentally different? We'll look at the records, the policies, and the arguments on both sides. Most importantly, we'll explore what happens when members challenge decisions made by union leadership. Is the Constitutional Appeals Committee an independent safeguard for members' rights, or has it become another layer of the establishment? No spin. No caucus talking points. No sacred cows. Just the documents, the decisions, the facts, and the questions every UAW member should be asking.

Monitor Files Episode 6: Rules Without Consequences

Election rules are supposed to protect fairness, transparency, and democracy. But what happens when rules exist on paper and nobody is held accountable for breaking them? In Episode 6, we examine the rules governing the UAW International Executive Board elections, the allegations of selective enforcement, and the growing perception among many members that some candidates play by one set of rules while others face a different standard. If rules aren't enforced equally, are they really rules at all—or just suggestions?

The Monitor Files Bonus Episode: Breaking Down the UAW Strike Fund

The Monitor Files Bonus Episode dives deep into the UAW strike fund, the financial realities behind it, and the growing debate among members about how that money is managed and used. With over $850 million in the strike fund, members have increasingly asked hard questions: How secure is the fund really? How is it invested? Who controls the decisions? And why are members still struggling financially during strikes while leadership continues business as usual? This episode breaks down the numbers, the structure of the strike fund, strike pay debates, investment strategies, and the disconnect many members feel between leadership messaging and the reality on the shop floor. We also examine the broader political side of strike leverage, member expectations, and whether the current system truly reflects the priorities of the membership. No spin. No slogans. Just facts, analysis, and uncomfortable questions. The Monitor Files continues pulling back the curtain on the inner workings of the UAW and the leadership decisions shaping the future of the union movement.

Curry, Fain, Sycophants, and Hypocrisy — Monitor Files Bonus Episode

In this bonus episode of The Monitor Files, we dig into the uncomfortable truth behind the UAW’s public reform image and the private conduct exposed through the federal monitor’s reports. This episode looks at the disturbing parallels between Ray Curry withholding documents from the monitor and Shawn Fain later being accused of similar obstruction after campaigning on transparency, accountability, and reform. We break down how UAWD and the Members United movement treated the monitor’s intervention as a victory when it exposed Curry, but how many of the same voices suddenly changed their tone when Shawn Fain became the one under scrutiny. We also examine the role of Fain’s loyalists and political defenders, the hypocrisy of cheering oversight when it hurts your opponent but attacking it when it threatens your own side, and why real reform cannot depend on personality worship or selective outrage. This episode also revisits how Shawn Fain entered UAWD as a last-resort candidate, how Brian Keller’s third-place endorsement helped make Fain’s victory possible, and how the reform movement that helped carry him into office was later discarded, rewritten, or erased when it no longer served his political needs. This is not about defending Curry. It is about holding everyone to the same standard. Because corruption does not become reform just because your side is doing it.

The Monitor Files – Episode 5: If at First You Don’t Slit Her Fucking Throat… Try, Try Again

After the Federal Monitor’s 12th Report failed to remove UAW Secretary-Treasurer Margaret Mock, the attacks didn’t stop — they escalated. Episode 5 of The Monitor Files dives into the allegations of retaliation, political targeting, and the internal power struggle surrounding the office responsible for controlling the union’s money. From accusations that collapsed under scrutiny to repeated attempts to undermine and isolate Mock, this episode examines what happens when the first hit job fails… and the people behind it refuse to let it go. Using the Monitor’s own findings, internal communications, and the growing divide inside the union, this episode explores whether the fight was ever really about misconduct — or about removing a financial gatekeeper who refused to rubber-stamp spending and investments. Fear. Retaliation. Power. And the question hanging over all of it: How many times do you have to try before people realize it was never about justice in the first place?

The Monitor Files – Episode 4: Fear and Loathing in Solidarity House

Inside Solidarity House, fear became a weapon. Loyalty was demanded. Dissent was punished. And behind closed doors, the people elected to protect the membership were allegedly using the machinery of the union against their own. In Episode 4 of The Monitor Files, we examine the growing culture of retaliation, political paranoia, and internal intimidation that spread through the upper levels of the union. What began as a movement promising reform and transparency slowly transformed into accusations of surveillance, targeted investigations, loyalty tests, and weaponized compliance actions against perceived enemies. Using federal monitor findings, internal accusations, public statements, and testimony surrounding the retaliation allegations tied to the Secretary-Treasurer investigation, this episode follows the collapse of trust inside Solidarity House itself. The deeper the monitor dug… the uglier the picture became. This is the story of fear, power, and the battle for control inside one of the most influential labor unions in America.

The Monitor Files — Episode 2: “Slit Her Fucking Throat”5

Episode 2 of United Auto Workers: The Monitor Files dives into the explosive allegations and internal power struggle surrounding Margaret Mock and the events examined in the federal monitor’s 12th report. What began as political disagreements over spending, oversight, and financial control escalated into accusations of retaliation, intimidation, coordinated attacks, and efforts to politically destroy one of the highest-ranking elected women in the union. This episode explores the alleged conspiracy to isolate and remove Mock after repeated clashes over union finances, investment losses, spending authority, and accountability inside the administration of Shawn Fain. At the center of the episode is one shocking phrase that came to symbolize the hostility and internal warfare consuming the leadership structure: “slit her fucking throat.” Using publicly discussed allegations, monitor findings, internal conflicts, and the growing divide inside the reform movement itself, Episode 3 examines how a union that promised transparency and democracy became engulfed in accusations of retaliation and political vengeance. This is the story of power, loyalty, fear, and what happens when internal dissent collides with control at the top of one of America’s most powerful unions.

    🎙️ Episode 1: The Monitor’s Mandate

This opening episode breaks down the foundation of federal oversight inside the United Auto Workers—what the Monitor is, why it exists, and what authority it actually holds. After years of corruption scandals that led to federal intervention, a court-appointed independent monitor was installed to oversee the union’s operations, enforce compliance reforms, and restore accountability. But what does that really mean for the membership? In this episode, we dig into the Monitor’s mandate under the Consent Decree—covering investigations, election oversight, financial compliance, and internal governance. We also begin examining the Monitor’s own reports, starting with the Eleventh Status Report, to understand how oversight has evolved and what early warning signs were already present. This isn’t opinion—this is the paper trail. https://www.uawmonitor.com/reports/7
