The Untold Story
THE UNTOLD STORY Who am I? I'm a dark-skinned woman living in the Western part of Africa with tons of untold stories. My story is unknown to people in the other part of the world. I'm Awero the beautiful Omidan who has a life she doesn't own. Who am I to own the life of my own? Here goes the untold story; "Awero is the chosen one. We have just three days to prepare for the sacrifice " Baba Ifagbemi uttered, not sparing Adetutu a glance. A heavy sigh of turmoil exited Adetutu's lips as she was left in a trance after Ifagbemi had interpreted the unheard words of the Oracle. Why have the Oracle chosen her only daughter out of all the female youngsters from the entire village? that was the thought that kept nudging her mind. In the afternoon, before she had received the news from Ifagbemi, he ordered one of his numerous servants to summon Adetutu from her humbled shackle down to his quarter, since Ifagbemi resides within the small village, She had wasted no time and trudged down to his place, questioning not the servant he has sent over. Every four years, the deity of Awoyaya village demand for the fresh blood of an innocent girl to be sacrificed. Her blood would be sprinkled all over the village for peace to reign. This has been the tent practised for centuries by their ancestors. Four years have passed, another virgin blood is desired, to be sacrificed for the deity. At dusk, the king's messenger chaperoned Awero outside the hut she'd lived all her life to Ifagbemi resident feeding her nothing but lizard soup. Two days passed, and the day of sacrifice ensued. On the first two nights of her stay at ifagbemi's cottage, the King made an appearance at his place. Awero was blindfolded and hauled into a private room. "Where am I?" Awero questioned with a panicked tone "You are not authorized to utter a word in the present of the deity" Ifagbemi cautioned her with a mockery gaze. In the presence of the deity, The man called king forcefully bedded Awero on the first night of her stay, living her defenceless with her crying womanhood. Is this part of the ritual? This was the thought roaming her ignorant mind. On the day of the ritual, she was laid lifeless on the cold floor as her ignorance blood was splattered on the sinful ground of Awoyaya village. Who's the hypocrite? The King who believe in the treacherous way of life? Ifagbemi who lied against the deity to execute his inhuman litigation? The deity who keep mute, watching them? UDOTS
