Trouble, Talent & Tenacity: Kahunde’s Unfiltered Acting Journey

This episode of Ugandan Art Speaks Out traces the compelling journey of actress Kahunde—from her early school days, where a spirited and often “stubborn” personality hinted at a future in performance, to her rise in Uganda’s growing film and television industry. We explore her breakout role as Annette in the hit NTV series Hostel, a character that brought her national recognition in the mid-2010s. The episode also examines a pivotal moment in 2015, when she was removed from the short film Crossroads amid reports of indiscipline—an incident that challenged her professionalism and public image. Yet Kahunde’s story is equally one of resilience. By 2018, she re-emerged with significant impact, featuring in 27 Gunsand earning recognition for her renewed commitment to her craft, including a profile as Urban TV Uganda’s Woman Crush Wednesday. Through setbacks and breakthroughs, Kahunde’s journey offers a grounded look at personal growth, artistic determination, and the evolving landscape of Ugandan cinema.
