Un lugar in between

About Un lugar in between

Un lugar in between is a podcast for anyone who’s ever felt in between places, cultures, or identities. Through real conversations with migrants, refugees, and people on the move, we explore how change shapes who we are and how we build belonging along the way.

All my pieces together with Mawada Mohamed

Some parts of ourselves only become visible when we cross into a different place, a different culture, a different language, a different version of who we thought we were. In this episode I talk with Mawada Mohamed, co-founder of Across the Border, for a conversation about identity, belonging, migration, storytelling, and the invisible borders we carry within us. Mawada shares how her Sudanese heritage and her experience of living between cultures have shaped her understanding of home, community, and self. Together, we explore how certain parts of our identity only emerge through movement, and how, over time, we learn to gather the different pieces of ourselves into a story that feels unique. We talk about inherited narratives and the stories we choose to rewrite, what it means belonging, and the moments that help us feel seen. Mawada also reflects on the journey that led to the creation of Across the Border, a community-driven organisation creating spaces for connection, dialogue, and support across experiences of migration. This conversation is an invitation to reflect on the borders that exist beyond geography, the emotional, cultural, and linguistic borders that shape who we are, and who we are becoming. A special note: We recently collaborated through Across the Border to facilitate a workshop exploring memory, identity, and storytelling through art.

The feeling of being from everywhere and nowhere with Ksenia Votinova-Arnaud

In this episode, I talk with Ksenia Votinova-Arnaud, a tech entrepreneur, business coach, and what she describes as a citizen of the world. Ksenia shares her journey of living and building her life across multiple countries, reflecting on the complex feelings of belonging, identity, and home that come with migration and constant movement. We explore the feeling of being from everywhere and nowhere at the same time, and how certain experiences become what Ksenia calls “mental photographs”, core moments of joy that shape who we are and how we see the world. Our conversation also touches on the values that guide her life decisions, the importance of community when starting again in new places, and the tools that help us adapt to different environments while staying connected to ourselves. This episode is also a reflection on a powerful realization: that home is not always a place, but a feeling we learn to cultivate within ourselves. 🎧 Listen, share, and let me know what part resonated with you. 📩 Do you have a story or topic you’d like us to explore?
