Day 1 - 25 May 2026 - HL Plenary Session - Nutrition Evidence and Innovation [EN]
#RomeNutritionWeek2026 | Day 1, 25 May - HL Plenary Session - Nutrition Evidence and Innovation for Shaping Agrifood Systems Transformation - ENGLISH
This high-level session explores how FAO’s innovative systems approach, and a cross-sector evidence base, can accelerate agrifood systems transformation that can enable access to and consumption of healthy diets for better nutrition, aligned with commitments made by many Members including those pledged at the Nutrition for Growth Summit (N4G) in Paris, March 2025. Senior leaders from governments, international organizations and civil society, stimulated by audience engagement, will explore how dietary and nutrition data and evidence, combined with a systems approach, can accelerate agrifood systems transformation to enable healthy diets and sustained nutrition impact.
Through country experiences and live audience interaction, senior leaders will guide participants through discussions on how a systems approach supports turning evidence into healthy diets for all.

Day 1 -25 May 2026 - Thematic Session 1 -Connecting the Cost and Affordability of Healthy Diets [EN]
#RomeNutritionWeek2026 | Day 1, 25 May - Thematic Session 1 - Connecting the Cost and Affordability of Healthy Diets to Agrifood System Investments - ENGLISH
Transforming agrifood systems requires understanding whether healthy diets are affordable and why. Cost and Affordability of a Healthy Diet (CoAHD) indicators provide evidence on where food systems fail, yet remains underused in investment and policy. As they allow to monitor costs of healthy food items across places, and time, CoAHD indicators can guide targeted investments and policies, as shown by Nigeria’s experience and innovative approaches like FAO’s Policy Optimization Tool.
