Unapologetic About That

About Unapologetic About That

Unapologetic About That is a no-filter, heart-forward podcast for women and sapphics building real community. Hosted by storyteller, bruja, and queer mom Nat Farfan, the show is an invitation to live louder, love deeper, and stop shrinking. Each episode weaves storytelling, ancestral wisdom, sapphic joy, and feminist defiance. We talk healing, identity, motherhood, spirituality, and yes - lesbian talk (U-Hauls, scissoring, and everything in between). It’s not a political podcast, but when you’re queer, Indigenous, and unapologetically visible, existence is resistance. Light your palo santo, pour the cafecito, get comfy - and let’s be unapologetic about all of it.

This week, we're joined by Leeann (@leevonluxvip) - a former ballet dancer turned model, kink therapist, entrepreneur, and future mental health clinician. We talk about what it means to reclaim your story, build a business on your own terms, and empower others through play, trust, and self-discovery. Honest, playful, and deeply human - this one's for anyone choosing authenticity over shame.

Building Legacy, Pouring Joy w/Saint James Libations

Season 2 opens with a powerful conversation rooted in legacy, love, and liberation. This episode of Unapologetic About That welcomes Afro-Caribbean visionaries Akila and Lola the brilliant founders behind Saint James Libations, Bushwick’s elevated Black, queer women-owned wine bar creating more than a destination - it’s a sanctuary. From motherhood to entrepreneurship, from ancestral memory to modern-day resistance, Akila and Lola share what it means to birth both children and community while building a space intentionally designed for women, sapphics, and those seeking belonging. Their establishment stands as a living love letter to lineage, joy, and the revolutionary act of taking up space. Their vision of creating “Brooklyn’s living room” centers connection, culture, music, wine, and radical hospitality for BIPOQ communities. We talk self-care rituals, the emotional labor of leadership, the sacred balance of partnership and parenting, and how choosing joy - especially in times like these - is its own form of rebellion. This conversation honors the ancestors, the mothers before us, and the generations of Black and queer people who made room for us to gather, celebrate, and thrive. This is an episode about ownership. About softness. About resilience. About building the table instead of waiting for a seat. Because sometimes legacy looks like a perfectly poured glass of wine, good music playing low, and a room full of people finally feeling like they belong. Listen now everywhere podcasts are streamed.

   Reclaiming Ancestral Wisdom w/Lynsey

We’re back with a soul-stirring episode of Unapologetic About That. For our BIPOC community, this is an invitation: to stand fully in your knowing, to embrace your lineage, and to reclaim the power that has always been yours. We are not searching for belonging — we are the legacy. Tap in, tune in, and walk with us on this journey back to self.

   Women’s History Month Special

In this powerful and playful Women’s History Month episode, host Nat Farfan celebrates the women and nonbinary legends shaping culture across music, sports, film, food, poetry, and public service. From Young Miko, boldly affirming body positivity (“me gustan thick y también skinny”), to Kehlani’s Altar, a tender ritual of grief and ancestral love - this episode honors how women hold both fire and softness. We shout out London’s own KWN, tap into the queer electricity of Janelle Monáe’s “Make Me Feel” and “Lipstick Lover,” and give flowers to Afro-Dominican salve guardian Enerolisa Núñez, whose voice keeps tradition alive. Beyond music, we uplift Olympic figure skater Alysa Liu, who chose joy over burnout. We celebrate Oscar-winner Lupita Nyong’o, living fully between Kenya and Mexico. We toast “Top Chef” icon Kristen Kish, who reminds us that power can look like a hoodie and no makeup. And we honor FDNY Commissioner Lillian Bonsignore, a woman who answered NYC’s call from 9/11 to the pandemic. We close by remembering beloved nonbinary poet Andrea Gibson, whose words remind us that love is sacred work: “Before I die, I want to be somebody’s favorite hiding place.” Episode 8 is about visibility. It’s about softness and strength. It’s about choosing yourself. It’s about becoming the kind of love you want to be. Tune in, feel seen, and celebrate the ones who keep the flame burning.

   Archiving is Care

What if archiving wasn’t about nostalgia - but devotion? This week on Unapologetic About That, we sit with Sara, aka DJ Rio Bambaa, a friend of the show, a queer DJ, death doula, and community weaver. We talk about transition and the sacred act of remembering. From moving sapphic dance floors in Brooklyn to answering a spiritual call in Austin, Sara shares what it means to honor the past without living in it. We talk about how archiving is care and how preserving our stories, our playlists, our grief, and our evolution is an act of resistance and love. As a death doula, Sara reminds us that endings deserve witnesses. As a DJ, she teaches us that playlists deserve witnesses, too. This episode is for those leaving cities, identities, lovers, or old versions of themselves. Archiving is care. Remembering is resistance. And sometimes the bravest thing you can do is document your own becoming. Let’s gooo - year of the horse, baby.

And to this, she is thankful to the queers in her family that came before her. Finally, and as per usual- we ask our guest what their thoughts on "scissoring" are. In short, Alyssa finds it hard, but understands the charm behind it and encourages those that want to scissor to go for it. Alyssa for president! Briana & Ivana

In this deeply human episode, La Brujas Club sits down with lesbian couple Briana and Ivana for a conversation that moves between grief, resistance, intimacy, and joy. Recorded just days after the tragic murder of Renee Nicole Good by ICE, this episode doesn’t shy away from the hard truths - especially how misogyny and violence are often directed at women who refuse to be submissive, and toward masc-presenting women in particular. From there, the conversation softens into something just as radical: queer joy. The kind found in board games at the kitchen table, laughter with your partner, and choosing tenderness in a world that tries to strip it away. And yes - we close with a playful, honest take on why scissoring is fun… and also a full-body workout 🥲 This episode is a reminder that loving boldly, laughing freely, and existing unapologetically is the resistance. 🎧 Out Wednesday (1/21/25) on all major podcast platforms and LABRUJASCLUB.COM.

    U-Hauling: Sunny & Tammy Merge

Welcome to episode 2 of Unapologetic About That, a sapphic podcast for all my Brujas (aka witches, healers, queer community). In today's episode, we sit down with Sunny and Tammy, a sapphic couple that lean into U-hauling, the opposite of "slow motion for me" (Juvenile's 2023 song). This term, the U-Haul lesbian or U-Haul syndrome is "a stereotype of lesbian relationships referring to the idea that lesbians tend to move in together after a short period of time" - basically, the urge to merge. We dive into why a fast-track works for them and how childhood experiences helped carve out their queer journey today. And yes, for everyone sending DM's about more scissor talks, there will be more, I promise. Matter of fact, Sunny and Tammy did not disappoint with their thoughts on this topic. Tune in for a passionate and very vulnerable conversation that every lesbian has experienced or will potentially live out before they turn 80 years old. Scissor, Scissor, Scissor.
