The idea for Unavoidable came about when Sue, Shan, along with their two siblings realized their parents were not “Nucking Futs” they were just aging. As adult children of aging parents, they discovered they weren’t sailing this boat solo. Fast forward to today, Sue and Shan are facing the music that they too are not immune to the aging process and they are not about to keep mum about it! Cue the birth of their podcast, where they spill the beans and share their wisdom with the universe.
The Midterms are coming! The Midterms are coming!
Today Sue & Shan take you through some important dates and things to consider when voting in Nebraska this year:
Make sure that you are registered.
Early voting has begun. Take advantage of it!
Drop your ballot in the ballot box. (Mail-in ballots are a little “if-y” this year.)
Educate yourself on the candidates and initiatives.
Don’t depend on mailers, TV/ radio ads, or polls for reliable information.
Get a sample ballot and study it so that you know how you want to vote.
Midterm election day is November 3, 2026
Your vote IS important! It is your right, your power, your voice!

What Are We So Worried About
“With age comes wisdom.” Well, if we’re so wise, what are we so worried about? It turns out that we older folks have different things that worry us - loneliness, finances, physical decline, loss of independence. Today on Unavoidable-Adventures in Aging, Sue and Shan talk about the anxiety we feel as we get older. We even learned a new term…gerascophobia-fear of aging.
And remember - you’re not alone, you’re not crazy, you’re not nuckingfuts, you’re just aging!

Gone Fishing
Well, no, Sue and Shan aren’t really fishing. We can’t think of the last time we actually did fish…probably never! It’s just one of those sayings.
We are, however, taking 2 weeks off. We’re both taking some time off to do some traveling and we’ll be back with a new episode on October 9th. Please take this opportunity to go back and listen to one of your favorites from Unavoidable-Adventures in Aging.
As always, thanks for listening!
