Policy to Practice
In the final episode of Season 1 of “UnCHARTERed Territory”, DC PCSB Executive Director Dr. Michelle Walker-Davis sits down with Paul Kihn, Deputy Mayor for Education for the District of Columbia, for an honest conversation about one of the most important and least visible parts of public education in the city. What actually happens between the moment a policy is made and the moment it reaches a student sitting in a classroom? Paul Kihn coordinates policy across DC Public Schools, the Office of the State Superintendent of Education, early childhood programs, and the broader education landscape. He is also a parent in Washington, DC. That combination of professional responsibility and personal stake made for a conversation that DC's education community needs to hear. Watch it now and share it with an educator, a school leader, a parent, or anyone who believes in what DC's schools can do.
