LGBTQ representation in media has been skyrocketing over the last few years. In 2022, 12% of recurring roles in US television were LGBTQ characters.
But is this representation good? Does it accurately portray the LGBTQ community? Is it positive or negative for our community?
These are the questions we seek to answer in Under Queer Review, a monthly media review podcast where three queers (Matt, Pat, and Jackie) take a critical lens to queer media and decide whether or not it passes the "Queer Review".
Things are changing a little bit and we wanted to share with you our updates. Thanks for hanging in their with us!

Yuri on Ice
We're going back in time 2016. That's right, there is queer media in the past that we want to review as well! In this episode we're taking a look at Yuri on Ice, one of Pat's favorite animes that he and Jackie finally managed to get Matt to watch. While the show does not ever explicitly confirm the queer representation, it's interesting to take a look at this show as a catalyst for future queer content. Does it pass the Queer Review?

Review of Billy Eichner and Nicholas Stoller's Bros
Bros, starring Billy Eichner and directed by Nicholas Stoller, is a 2022 romantic comedy film focusing on a gay relationship. It's one of the few major box-office LGBTQ+ films out, and in this episode of Under Queer Review, we take a critical lens to it! Does Bros pass the Queer Review?

The Sandman
It's our first ever episode of Under Queer Review!! Listen up queers, because it's time to take a critical eye to some of our favorite shows and answer the question... does it pass the Queer Review?
In this episode we review The Sandman, a show that was chock-full of casual #LGBTQ representation! The main character Dream (aka Morpheus) is a god who must deal with the aftermath of his century-long imprisonment. Let's discuss it!
