Under Review: The Verification Project explores the questions, claims, and assumptions that shape how we understand our world.
Each investigation begins with a question—not a conclusion. We develop a hypothesis, then do our best to break it. We examine primary sources, historical records, data, expert scholarship, competing interpretations, and the strongest evidence against our own position.
Sometimes the evidence leads to a clear answer. Sometimes it challenges what we thought we knew. And sometimes the most accurate conclusion is simply: we don't know.
No predetermined verdicts. No hiding inconvenient evidence. No asking you to take our word for it.
From religion and history to science, business, culture, and society, each episode follows the evidence wherever it leads—and publishes the research behind the discussion so you can examine it for yourself.
Because the goisn't to prove we're right.
It's to find out whether an idea survives being put Under Review.
Bigger questions. Deeper evidence. A clearer world.
Don't take our word for it. Verify it.
Episode 10 - Does the Bible teach the rapture—or the version many of us grew up fearing?
Does the Bible teach the rapture—or the version many of us grew up fearing? In this episode of Under Review: The Verification Project, we investigate the belief that Christians will suddenly disappear before a seven-year tribulation. Reading directly from the World English Bible, we examine the passages used to support that timeline, the texts that complicate it, and how John Nelson Darby, the Scofield Reference Bible, and Left Behind helped popularize it. We give the strongest arguments a fa...

What Is Hell? What the Bible Says About Eternal Punishment
What does the Bible actually say about hell—and do Sheol, Hades, Gehenna, Tartarus, and the lake of fire describe the same thing? In this episode of Under Review: The Verification Project, we examine the biblical passages and historical development behind one of Christianity’s most consequential doctrines. From the Hebrew Bible and 1 Enoch to Jesus’ recorded teachings and Revelation, we test the evidence for eternal conscious punishment, final destruction, and ultimate reconciliation. We give...

James vs. Paul: Contradiction or Common Ground? | Under Review — Part 3 of 3
Faith, works, and the question neither side can dodge: do James and Paul actually agree—or have Christians learned to explain away their differences? In the final segment of our three-part investigation, we test the strongest arguments for harmony and contradiction, challenge our own assumptions, and weigh what the evidence can—and cannot—establish about early Christianity. What survives scrutiny? What would change our conclusion? And where does interpretation outrun the text? Under Review: T...

Jesus vs. Paul: Did Paul Change Jesus’ Message? | Part 2
Did Paul faithfully carry Jesus’ message forward—or reshape it into something Jesus never taught? In Episode 6 of Under Review: The Verification Project, we continue our examination of Jesus and Paul with a question at the heart of Christianity: are their teachings part of the same message? Reading Jesus’ teachings alongside Paul’s letters raises difficult questions about faith, salvation, the law, and what it means to follow Jesus. When the texts appear to disagree, does context resolve the ...

Episode 5 Did Paul Invent Christianity? Jesus vs. Paul, Part 1 | Under Review
Did Paul invent Christianity? Thomas Jefferson called Paul the "first corruptor of the doctrines of Jesus," and scholars from F. C. Baur to Gerd Lüdemann have argued that Paul, not Jesus, founded the religion we know today. In Part 1 of a three-part investigation, we put that claim under review. We compare what Jesus preached in the Gospels with what Paul wrote in his letters. Jesus proclaimed the Kingdom of God, repentance and radical ethics. Paul proclaimed Christ crucified and raised. We a...

Did Jesus Tell Women to Be Silent in Church?
“The Bible says women should be silent.” But did Jesus say that? In this episode of Under Review: The Verification Project, Cody Clark tests a specific claim: Do the Gospel accounts record Jesus telling women not to speak, teach, or participate in the community? We examine how Jesus treats Mary of Bethany, the Samaritan woman, and the women who carry news of the resurrection. Then we turn to the passages most often cited in church debates—1 Corinthians 14 and 1 Timothy 2—and ask who is speaki...

Episode 2: Who Wrote the Gospels?
Episode 2: Who Wrote the Gospels? Matthew. Mark. Luke. John. Four names most Christians recognize immediately—but how much do we actually know about the people who wrote the four accounts of Jesus' life? In Episode 2 of Under Review: The Verification Project, we examine what the Gospels themselves say about their authors, the ancient traditions connecting them to Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, and why scholars continue to debate exactly who composed these texts. Then we go a step further. Mat...

Episode 1: What Is the Bible, Actually?
Episode 1: What Is the Bible, Actually? Before we can put the claims inside the Bible under review, we need to understand what the Bible itself actually is. It looks like a single book. Historically, it's much more complicated. In the first investigation of Under Review: The Verification Project, we start with the fundamentals: how the Bible was assembled, why its books aren't arranged in the order they were written, what we know—and don't know—about who wrote them, why Jesus left us no known...
