Hello and welcome to Under the Grid, the podcast exploring the history of Milton Keynes from the Collections Team at Milton Keynes Museum. We delve deep (and not so deep) into time to tell you some of our favourite things about the area, and share our discoveries from working at the museum.
🎶 On Pennyland there was a Saxon weaving woollen clothes, and houses built to grab the solar warmth for free….🎶
We pay a visit to Pennyland and investigate self-sufficiency in textile production and energy use.

Women's History Month
How we can discover the lives of women who lived in the past? We explore this topic by using Wolverton Carriage & Wagon Works and the Saxon cemetery at Wolverton as examples. Can we ever really know a skeleton’s gender? How many women were working at the male-dominated factory and what were they doing? Listen on to find out!
