Under Wraps with Jessica is a space for real stories with real people, meaningful conversations, and the journeys that shape us. From women sharing their personal experiences with head wrapping to the occasional unexpected turn, no two episodes are exactly alike.
Some stories are about what we wear and others are about who we become along the way. Either way, there’s always more to discover Under Wraps.
Hosted by Jessica Hyam from The Little Tichel Lady.
Shani Haghighi always knew that when she got married, she would cover her hair. Growing up in an observant home, it was never a question of if she would cover. Like many women around her at the time, she simply assumed she would wear a sheitel.
But during a conversation with her future husband, a simple question about his preference gave her something to think about.
In this episode of Under Wraps with Jessica, Shani shares how that conversation led her to reconsider a decision she thought she had already made. She opens up about balancing her own preferences with those of her husband, what beauty meant to her, and how she ultimately approached the mitzvah of covering her hair.
It's a beautiful and thoughtful conversation about marriage, personal choices, and discovering deeper meaning in a mitzvah she had always known she would keep.

The Choice That Didn’t Sit Right - Jessica Lazarev's Story
Jessica Lazarev always knew that when she got married, she planned to cover her hair with a wig.
As a Ba’al Teshuva, she had made that decision for herself long before meeting her husband. But when they began dating, he shared his own thoughts about how he felt a married woman should cover her hair. While he ultimately left the decision completely up to Jessica, knowing how he felt made her begin to look at her choice differently.
In this episode of Under Wraps with Jessica, Jessica Lazarev shares the journey that followed. Continuing to wear her wigs while wrestling with a feeling that didn't sit right.
But her story also opens up a much bigger conversation about marriage, mitzvot, and what happens when two individual lives become one family. As Jessica beautifully explains, once you're married, it isn't simply “my mitzvah” or “your mitzvah.” The choices we make can affect the family unit as a whole.
Jessica shares her experience with honesty and perspective, reminding us that sometimes our relationship with a mitzvah evolves and that finding the way to make it meaningful and sustainable can be a journey of its own.

Long before Rachel was married, she already knew how she wanted to cover her hair.

In this episode of Under Wraps with Jessica, Rachel shares where that love came from, why covering with a headscarf felt so naturally suited to her personality, and how she would daven to Hashem that she should always continue to love and find joy in this mitzvah.
Rachel also shares beautiful perspective, wisdom, and Chizuk for women at every stage of their own head-covering journey, especially those who may be struggling to find that same connection and joy.

The Stumbling Block She Didn't See Coming - Shira's Headcovering Story
As a teenager, Shira Zaghi had already decided that after she got married, she would cover her hair with a sheitel.
Years later, after she was married, something unexpected began to happen. On more than one occasion, men approached her, unaware that she was married. For Shira and her husband, these experiences became moments of reflection and sparked deeper questions about the purpose of hair covering and the message it conveys.
In this heartfelt conversation, Shira shares how these experiences led her to revisit Torah sources, including the stories of Yosef HaTzaddik and Eshet Potiphar, as well as the account involving Rabbi Yishmael, one of the Asarah Harugei Malchut. Through learning, introspection, and what she describes as Hashem gently guiding her through different moments in her life, Shira gradually came to the realization that covering with a headscarf was the path she was meant to take.
This episode isn't about judgment or debate. It's about one woman's deeply personal journey of listening to Hashem's guidance, following her heart, and embracing the form of head covering that brought her closer to Him.
Whether you cover with a headscarf, a sheitel, another form of hair covering, or are simply interested in hearing sincere stories of faith and growth, we hope Shira's journey inspires meaningful reflection.
