Hosted by Kyle S, Underground Genius explores a wide range of topics in music, tv/film, design, art, literature, technology, and just about everything else. A Vagrant By Sunset production.
Episode 15 — Unplugged | Touching Grass is My (Old) New Hobby
Over the last few months, I've realized that I developed an unhealthy relationship with my phone — too many distractions. On this episode, I talk about how/why I’m taking regular breaks from the internet, and the four tools that have helped me touch grass more often.
Shout out to the homie @aldali_410 for providing the new sounds. Definitely check out his music.

Episode 14 — And Still, Life | My Solo Trip to Tunisia
On this episode, I discuss the seven life lessons I learned while on my first solo trip ever. Not only was it my first time out of the United States, it was also my first time on an airplane. I know, super late in the game, but I highly recommend a solo trip.

Episode 9 — I Remember You Was Conflicted, Misusing Your Influence
First & foremost, big shout out to Dontaé (@donth8dontae) for allowing me to use his music. I open up this week’s episode of UG by briefly covering an incident between the Valley Stream, NY native & then-Apple Music executive Carl Chery, which underscores the importance of branding.
This discussion segues into the topic of influencers in today’s world. I talk about different roles they can play in any given industry, how they interact with creators & consumers, & several traits/behaviors of highly effective influencers.
Be sure to check out Dontaé’s newest project, 4L3, available wherever you get your music.
Songs used (in order): “Motivation,” “No Rules,” & “Built For This.”

Episode 8 — The Reagan Era
It’s been a minute!
After a several month hiatus, UG is back with episode eight. I’ve been taking in feedback and listening back to all of the episodes, and I realized that I left off an important group from that list of notable hip-hop cliques with no album (eps 2-4 if you need to tap in). So, I think it’s fitting that I take some time to tell you all about the 80s.
Songs used for episode (in order of appearance) — “Six Feet Over,” “The Sun and the Moon,” “The Distant River,” Fly Ass Pisces,” and “Lucid.”
Definitely recommend listening to Cocaine 80s’ entire catalog for the full vibrations.

Episode 7 — 7:30 in Long Island
“I can’t believe you did that, that shit is mad funny.”
Sorry for the delay! In this episode, I explain why this release was late (immediately breaking a resolution I set for the new year — shout out to you if you’ve kept up with your own goals).
Alcohol and poor judgment contributed to this episode, but probably not in the way that you might think.
Egyptian chamomile is the tea of the week, get you some.
If you liked the stories included in Ep. 5 featuring the homie Byron (@the.narcissus on IG), you’ll appreciate this episode much more. Skip to 8:53 to hear a gem in the archives. Go back and listen if you missed it.
Not here for a long time this week, but if you’re rocking with me then I appreciate the love.

And we’re back! Pardon the end-of-year hiatus — UG Podcast is back on track. On today’s episode, I discuss how the evolution of technology has provided us with boundless information and opportunities that weren’t as accessible in the past. Is this a good thing or a bad thing? I give six pros and six cons of how tech is shaping the landscape of practically every industry for creators and consumers.
Would love to hear from y’all. Hit me up on IG @kxyes, or shoot me an email (undrgrndgenius@gmail.com). Also taking submissions for things to be featured on future episodes. Any creative projects, not just limited to music.

Episode 5 — Let's Start at the Beginning
The process of starting anything — whether it's a savings goal, a fitness plan, a business venture, or even a new podcast — can be a little intimidating. On today's episode, I talk about some of the things I've learned throughout the process of starting this pod, as well as Vagrant By Sunset. I also add in some bonus content from my early days of being a member of the media. And I also have my first guest... sort of.
Special shout out to producer Action Banks, whose beats are featured in today's episode. Stream "Homebody" today!

Episode 4 — Platinum w/ No Albums (Part III)
The final installment of the series that discusses impactful hip-hop groups that have never released a project. 10 groups from the last 10 years. Listening to Parts I and II recommended, but definitely not required. Episode is slightly longer than usual, but thanks in advance for listening! Shout out to everyone who helped me come up with the information!

Episode 3 — Platinum w/ No Albums (Part II)
Part two of a three-part series where I explore several impactful groups in hip hop that have never released an album. Picks up right where I left off from the first part. Let me know your thoughts on the topic, and tell who I'm missing (chances are they will be covered in Part III). This marks the end of groups founded between 1989-2009; Part III contains all modern groups. Sources below!
