The Peg Leg Bates Country Club was a landmark black owned Catskills Resort in Kerhonkson, New York, founded by legendary tap dancer Clayton Peg Leg Bates from 1951 to 1987. It served as one of the most important black vacation destinations in the Northeast and a place where families could relax, dance, swim, and enjoy entertainment at a time when segregation limited where black travelers could stay.
