Episode 14: Embracing Diversity
How do we grow, mature, and stay healthy? How do we fulfill our calling, adding significant value to the world around us? And how do we discover truth, humility, righteousness, love, and unity? By embracing diversity! When we seek out people who do not look, think, feel, talk, or act like us, it challenges our "normal." When we travel, we discover ways of doing things that we didn't know existed. If we listen to teachers, influencers, and friends who disagree with our perspectives, it helps us see our belief systems objectively. Diversity is critical to health, healing, and wholeness. Without it, we remain shallow, narrow-minded, isolated, and useless. I challenge you to intentionally diversify your life. Find the voices, experiences, and places that are different from the culture you grew up in and embrace the problems that arise. Over time, you, and the world around you, will be so much better off. Episode 13: Original Goodness
What if there is a way to do everything that required no compromise, anxiety, or unnecessary discipline? What if we could discover God's design for our bodies, relationships, communities, and businesses? What if there was a way to do things that worked with no downside? In Genesis 1, after each day of creation, God looked at what He made and said it was good. God perfectly designed every living thing, the plants, animals, people, and the earth itself. We are good. The world is good. There is nothing broken or flawed in the way God made things. But what about original sin? Didn't Adam and Eve mess things up for everyone? Yes, but that means we live disconnected from God, others, the earth, and the design until we choose to reconnect through Jesus. There is nothing wrong with the ground, humanity, or our bodies. We are still made in His image and likeness, and the way God intended things to function remains intact. When we humble ourselves and discover how life works, everything changes. Health, wholeness, intimacy, purpose, provision, and peace become our new normal. I challenge you to question the areas of your life that don't seem to be responding to all of your effort and discipline. Could there be a better way, based on original goodness, that you can do life that works with God's design instead of fighting against it? Episode 12: Manifestation
How do you produce the results you want? How do you fulfill the calling on your life? What is the process, and how does it work? How does God's kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven? In today's episode, we talk about manifestation, or the process through which spiritual things become manifest in the natural world. Your true self is a spiritual being who directs your attention, intentions, desires, and imagination. You can use that ability, and your relationship with the Holy Spirit, to intentionally cultivate a fertile emotional state, expand your comfort zone, choose your thoughts, develop skills and relationships, and walk with God. If you do, you will manifest God's will and nature on the earth. But if you don't, if you allow your life to go unattended, or remain unconscious, your life will be random and unfruitful. Choose to live spiritually aware, let go of any ego attachments, and develop a relationship with God's Spirit, and you will reveal God's nature to the world. Episode 11: Radical Acceptance
Are you trying to control your circumstances or your response to those circumstances? If you want to bear much fruit, you must accept the way things are so you can respond accordingly. In today's episode, we discuss radical acceptance. Using the examples of improv comedy, tennis, and judo, we talk about what it means to allow things to be as they are so you cooperate instead of resist. Nothing good comes from resistance. It steals your focus by directing your attention, imagination, intelligence, desires, and intentions on things you can't control instead of what you can. To live a fruitful life, and make the world a better place, you must do it on your turn. First, you accept the situation you find yourself in, and then you choose to think, feel, and act in such a way that improves it. In sports, business, relationships, and life, you can't change things by wishing they were different. You have to accept the way things are, then make them better when it's your turn to respond. Episode 9: How To Stop Sabotaging Yourself
Why do I keep sabotaging myself? Why can't I lose weight, maintain healthy relationships, or make enough money? I know there's a calling on my life, but I can't seem to get out of my comfort zone and fulfill it. How do I stop undermining my success and become who God created me to be? In today's episode, we cover three specific ways to stop sabotaging yourself. First, it's all about taking responsibility. When we see ourselves as the gardener, the spirit who tends to the garden of our lives, we stop trying to change our circumstances and change ourselves instead. Next, we accept reality. Only after you accept the way things are and the design of God can you make significant progress. Finally, we stop isolating ourselves. We can only find meaning, abundance, and fulfillment in the context of the whole body. You can do this! Stop sabotaging yourself today and begin to live the fruitful life God intended. Episode 8: Walking Worthy Of Your Calling
What is my calling? How do I live a life worthy of that calling? In today's episode, we explore those questions and more, discovering along the way the difference between identity, purpose, and calling. Using Ephesians 4 as a guide, we dive into what it looks like to serve a function in the body and how to do it effectively. To live worthy of your calling is to stay aware of your connection to God at all times, receiving from Him the things only He can give. But it also means developing meaningful and vulnerable relationships with others through which there is an equal benefit to everyone involved. Don't think secular vs. sacred here; this is not about being called to full-time ministry. It's about finding your place in society, staying connected, loving others through your skills and gifts, and learning to give and receive proportionately. Episode 7: Question Everything
Living a conscious life is the key to your fruitfulness. That means being aware of yourself as a spirit being, the gardener of your life, and staying connected to God at all times. But it also means taking radical responsibility for every thought, feeling, and action, and living your life on purpose. Today, we talk about questioning everything, the culture you grew up in, the examples you had, and the way you were taught. We also discuss the various degrees of consciousness, ranging from demonic oppression to partnering with God. It is your job study the Bible for yourself, develop your own relationship with the Holy Spirit, establish accountability with those you trust, diversify your inputs, and discover God's design through trial and error and impartial science. Using those tools, you must question everything about the environment around you and take responsibility to throw out what is false and hold fast to the truth. If you don't question the culture, you'll end up accidentally growing a garden of weeds instead of bearing fruit on purpose. Episode 6: Answering The IF Question
Who do you think you are? You've never done anything like this before, what makes you think you can now? What difference could you make? Where's the evidence that you're called to do this? IF you are so special, prove it... Today, we tackle the IF question, the temptation of the enemy to attach your identity and worth to your performance. In Luke 4, after Jesus was called, affirmed, baptized, and anointed, the Spirit leads Him into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. He must come to terms with the issues of identity, worth, and value so that He can fulfill the calling on His life. And you must do the same. Before you can live the fruitful life you desire, you must settle the IF question. You must accept, believe, and trust that you are God's son simply because He said so. If you don't, you'll wander around in survival mode the rest of your life. Now may be your time to consume and produce less and detach from performance so that you can establish your identity in your connection to God. If you feel like there's a calling on your life (not just for ministry, but for science, music, writing, leadership, business, etc...), don't miss this episode! Episode 5: Sharing A Body With The Holy Spirit
You are not your body or brain, or the thoughts, feelings, and actions that form in it... You are the awareness that manifests your nature through the body, the gardener that tends the garden, the being living in the house. In Episode 5, we discuss what it's like sharing a body and brain with the Holy Spirit. How do you develop self-awareness? What about God awareness? What does it mean to be the temple of the Holy Spirit or the body of Christ? We discuss all of these questions and more, going into detail about what it means to be roommates with God, two spirits manifesting themselves through one form. We also talk about how each of us sees in part, and why love, or the awareness of our connection to others, is so important. Episode 4: Consciousness
Today we dive into consciousness, or the state of being aware of your connection to God. Using the story of Jesus' baptism and subsequent forty days in the wilderness, John unpacks what consciousness is and why it is essential before you can fulfill the calling on your life. The enemy will tempt you to believe a lie, feel uncertain, and try to take control of your future, but this is a huge mistake. If we live aware of our lack, we can't bring love, creativity, and abundance into the world. We must keep our awareness centered on our active, practical, trusting relationship with God through His Spirit if we want to add value to those around us. Episode 3: What Is My Purpose?
In today's episode, we tackle identity, inner purpose, and outer purpose. We consider questions like: "Who am I?" "Why am I here?" and "What is my purpose in life?" Using two different in-depth analogies, John answers these questions in detail, explaining why God made us, why we have a body, and why we're on the earth. If you ever wonder about the point of it all, want to know God's will so you can cooperate with Him, or need the language to help someone else understand who they are, you'll love this episode. Episode 2: The Ego
In this episode, we go all the way back to the beginning. We talk about creation, God's nature, and how He designed us to live. Our bodies are one with all living things, and our souls are one with God. Our identity and purpose is supposed to come from our connection to God, not our separateness. The enemy tricked Adam and Eve into sabotaging their own lives by getting them to question whether they could trust God and try to take control. The result is an imaginary sense of self, the ego, that exists apart from God and creates every problem on earth. You don't want to miss this one!
