Childhood friends Maira (a community worker and writer) and Badeea a (mom and psychiatrist) sit down together to unpack some hard topics in developing a healthy relationship with ourselves. Both friends are women of colour, from lower socioeconomic backgrounds, navigating ways to embrace their whole selves, and give courage to others to do the same. Topics range from beauty, to money, to death. No stones left unturned and no topic too scary to dive into!

We took this opportunity to unpack our 20s, from all the societal expectations, to our own internal drives, and what it took to develop our sense of self .
An episode we wish was around when we were younger, hopefully our Gen Z counterparts can enjoy this one. And for those of us who have somehow survived through our 20s already, its time to take a minute to notice what the HECK just happened to us in this "defining decade"!

Religiosity, our ability to weaponize any tool.
This episode we delve into the way we became conscious of our religious identities and how those evolved. Both Maira and I come from Islamic faith background with a great deal of variation even just between the two of us. JEALOUSY, Our secret weapon?
Jealousy is such an interesting emotion to unpack. In this episode we explore the many layers of it, including times when we have felt jealous, and times when we noticed others feeling jealous of us. We talk about the discomfort around this emotion, and what it might really be telling us. We pull from stories from Plato, Paulo Coelho, Muhammad peace be upon him and the Quran itself! Beauty, Our Need to Feel Beautiful.
Welcome to our first episode! We delve into what beauty means to us. How we developed a sense of self in relation to our own beauty as teen girls, and the factors that played into that, including colorism, access to fashion, class and affluence, and confidence in our self expression. We also delve into ways that we can hold on to a sustainable belief in our own beauty, regardless of ever changing trends and social standards, and how to define the beauty standard for ourselves, especially as women of color with limited representation in the media. We ended with really inspiring discussion on beauty as a spiritual experience vs beauty as vanity. Enjoy and stay tuned for more to come!
