Hey guys! Welcome to the last and final episode of the Uni Starter Kit podcast!!
In Episode 10 I sat down with Kevin Masundire who's another Vancouver-based content creator, to have a conversation about the things I wish I knew before I started university. We started out with 10 things but the list kept growing, so I think we're sitting at a comfortable 12 for now haha. I hope you take away some of these pointers and remember them as you go through university. It is an amazing chapter of one's life, full of adventure, challenges, and a whole lot of personal growth so I hope you find it to be as worthwhile as we did.
Thank you for listening
- Cheers!

So now that you have settled to University and selected a degree program to start exploring.
Almost everyone is going to ask you this for the next 4 years "What will you do with it after graduation?"
Some will have a clear step by step plan for their whole adult life lol, but for those who haven't, I think today's podcast will help to take some of the pressure off..
For Episode 9 I sat down with Deanne Esdale, a Career Education Manager from SFU's Career and Volunteer Services (CVS) department to dive into all the resources that they provide for students on campus. Stay tuned for details about how to navigate the uncertainty, book your appointments and get the most from CVS events and workshops!

8. Sexual Violence Support and Prevention Office (SVSPO)
Hey guys! Welcome to Episode 8!!
This week I'm onto another one of our lesser-known gems at SFU, the Sexual Violence Support and Prevention Office (SVSPO). (https://www.sfu.ca/sexual-violence.html)
I invited Julie Glazier to come onto the pod and share more about how this department helps students, alumni and employees at Simon Fraser University.
Keeping in mind that someone listening to this may have suffered from a form of sexual violence, I just want to let you know that we discussed the subject with utmost care and respect and did not go into details about any incidents, etc. But you are more than welcome to skip this week and check back in with us next week!
If however, you feel that you need the SVSPO's support at this time and would like to connect with them directly, I have linked to their website below, so you can reach out and make an appointment.

5. SFU Library
This week we're delving deep into the Simon Fraser University Library or Libraries rather, which I personally loved when I was doing my Ugrad. During finals, I would basically live there ... so much that it was practically home. So I'm thrilled to be giving you an inside look into all the resources that are available at the Burnaby, Surrey, and Vancouver locations in my conversation with the Library Communications Officer - Chloe Riley.

4. SFU Health and Counselling
If the last 2 years have taught us anything, it is the importance of looking after both your physical and mental health. And unfortunately, too many of us wait for a crisis before we start seeking professional help. So this week, the spotlight is on SFU's Health and Counselling! Were going to hear a bit about the department that has been at the frontlines of the pandemic here on campus. Listen to learn more about their services and how you as a new student can volunteer or work with them.
Here is a quick survey you can take to help SFU HCS to improve its services- http://websurvey.sfu.ca/survey/410060471 (http://websurvey.sfu.ca/survey/410060471)

2. Academic Advising
Join me as I sit down with Bernard Ryu (Back on Track Program, Manager) to discuss everything about Academic Advising at SFU. Bernard was an Academic Advisor for about 10 years so believe me when I say, there is no one more qualified to break down how this department functions and supports the student body. In our conversation, we make an effort to clarify misconceptions and age-old problems that people have like figuring out the difference between when to see Academic Advisor versus going to Departmental Advising for example, so download and dive in, it's gonna be good!
(Feedback is very welcome, hop onto IG, and let's talk about E.1 and E.2)
