About Uniquity over Ubiquity
Uniquity over Ubiquity is a show that delves deep into the mind of an up and coming artist, as well as the artist that inspired them! Anyone that is gaining traction in their field is worth interviewing! We ask our guests to tell us ahead of time who their favorite artist/inspiration is. Once I have the artist I study their career and life and generate a pretty substantial list of questions. These questions relate to many things, such as comparison points between the two careers, questions about famous quotes, or even opinions/first impressions. Tune in to hear about the artistic process.

Episode 10: Matt Carter/Nate Bargatze
Welcome to Episode 10! Back to the comedy with Matt Carter talking about Nate Bargatze! Matt has been making his way through the Southeast on the Stand Up stage. I knew him back in high school when he was in a bands and theater with me! I was delighted to hear that he has been following one of my true all-time passions, comedy! Naturally I decided it was time to have him on the show, the chemistry was already there. Matt talked with us about Nate Bargatze who just recently released a Netflix special and has been making his way through the comedy scene with his clean comedy acts that remain relatable still! This conversation really brought to light the impact of how you feel about and perceive things while approaching any part of art or entertainment. A lot of these questions were written while watching Chase Jarvis' interview with Nate titled Nate Bargatze: Creativity, Comedy + Never Settling. I'd highly recommend checking that out! I want to thank Matt for agreeing to do this with me and having faith in my idea! So happy to see an old friend making people happy and doing something he wants to. Until next time! From the things he says, to the sounds he broadcasts through the speakers, the feels are unstoppable and palpable! Michal talked with us about The Everlasting Beastie Boys! Listen in as we talk about being impacted by music at a young age, the difference between city life and being surrounded by trees and peace, and what happens when you leave your comfort zone. Episode 6: Chris Dyer/Jim Phillips
Description: Episode 6 is up and we are talking visuals! Chris Dyer, well known and epic painter came to our studio in Denver, drew a picture for Uniquity over Ubiquity, and talked deeply and passionately about his role as an artist. Listen and learn as we talk about art, overdoing it, nature, and what it means to pay respects and homage without copying another artist altogether. Chris is an awesome artist and an even cooler person. You can tell just by the way he talks and the words he uses that he is on a serious path to enlightenment. As he follows that path he leaves bright colored murals and merch in his wake. We hope you enjoy this one! Episode 5: Jordan Remar/Zoe Jakes
We’re back!! Life got in the way, but art never dies! We talked with the lovely and flexible Jordan Remar (dancer for Govinda and many others) about one of my favorite performers alive, Zoe Jakes (Beats Antique). This show is a new one in many ways. First of all this is our first episode featuring a woman! Not only that, but we get to get into something different than just musicians, we are talking about dance! This episode is as awesome as it sounds, we break down what it means to dance to every bit of the music. Jordan talks with us about beginnings, paving the way for live dance in the music festival scene, and the ways perceive dance and movement. Jordan is such a soft and sweet person to have on this show and we can’t thank her enough. This episode is the second of our double feature, her partner in life and in music Govinda was on Episode 4 (https://anchor.fm/uniquityoverubiquity/episodes/Episode-4-GovindaTipper-e4210l) talking about Tipper. Listen to that one if you haven’t! Thanks again to Jordan and Govinda for talking with us about their combined art form and how it all works! We would love to have more shows like this one. Episode 3: Blockhead/Prince Paul
Welcome to Episode 3! We sat down with Blockhead to discuss hip hop and sample legend Prince Paul! Prince Paul is most famous for his work with De La Soul and made some immense strides in the way sampling was handled in the 80’s/90’s. In this interview we break down what changes happened within hip hop to get where we are today. We also talk about sampling then vs. now. Blockhead is a super knowledgeable person about the history of hip hop. This interview is so informative and covers how we approach the ever changing landscape that rap music has experienced. And what better artist to discuss this with than someone who cranks out some of the most unique and intricate sample based beats. Blockhead has worked with a multitude of people from Illogic to Aesop rock. This NYC based producer is not afraid to let his weird style shine through. From the multitude of different albums he has released it’s easy to see the range this man is capable of. These are two similar artists that still maintained their own lanes in their art form. We also get into Blockheads previous projects and groups to see where the style that inspired him bled through the most. From the Music Scene, all the way to his newest album, Free Sweatpants, Blockhead has entertained a multitude of genres while still having a distinguishable sound. We can’t thank Blockhead enough for sitting down and chatting with us fresh off of his European tour. Stay tuned for our minisode to find out who our next guest is! Welcome to Part 2 of Episode 2! We sat down with Greg Ellis (Light Designer for Pretty Lights and a whole slew of others) for a looooong chat about an artist that inspired him, Frank Zappa!
