The Universal Theosophy Podcast explores the timeless wisdom tradition known as Theosophy through thoughtful discussions on philosophy, spirituality, consciousness, ethics, and the deeper questions of human life.
Drawing from the teachings of Helena Blavatsky and the wider Theosophical tradition, the podcast examines both foundational ideas and their practical application. Episodes explore subjects such as the nature of reality, the evolution of consciousness, karma, reincarnation, mysticism, meditation, and the ethical life, while also considering the relationship between science, religion, and philosophy.
Rather than presenting Theosophy as a fixed set of beliefs, this podcast approaches it as a living path of inquiry—one that invites reflection, study, dialogue, and self-transformation.
Our first season introduces some of these ideas through long-form dialogue, beginning with the obvious first question: "What is Theosophy?"

S01E10: The Story of Humanity: Theosophy and Human Evolution | Universal Theosophy Podcast
How did humanity become what it is today—and what might it become in the future?
In this episode we explore Anthropogenesis, the Theosophical account of human evolution on Earth. Rather than treating evolution as a purely physical process, Theosophy presents the development of humanity as the intertwined evolution of consciousness, intelligence, perception and physical form.
We trace the great evolutionary stages traditionally called the Root-Races—a term used here for vast periods of human development, not ethnic or modern racial categories. Beginning with an ethereal primordial humanity, we explore the gradual materialization of the human form, the development of the senses and changing modes of reproduction, the separation of the sexes, and the awakening of self-conscious mind or Manas.
The discussion then turns to Lemuria and Atlantis, the “Fall of Man,” the loss of spiritual perception, advanced prehistoric civilizations, geological cataclysms and the worldwide traditions of a great flood. We consider the present Fifth Root-Race, clarify Blavatsky’s use of the term “Aryan,” and look ahead to the increasingly spiritual and ethereal humanity envisioned for the Sixth and Seventh Root-Races.
We also compare this account with modern evolutionary theory and place human development back within the much larger evolutionary vision explored throughout Season One.

S01E09: How Worlds Are Built: Theosophy and Cosmic Evolution | Universal Theosophy Podcast
How does a cosmos come into being and evolve?
In this episode we explore the Theosophical teaching of Cosmogenesis. Rather than viewing the universe as dead matter that somehow later gives rise to consciousness—or as the finished creation of a personal God—Theosophy presents consciousness and substance as evolving together within a living cosmos.
We discuss the Logos, cycles of manifestation and rest, the planes of existence, and the vast hierarchies of conscious beings involved in the formation and evolution of worlds. Using the analogy of an architect and countless contractors and specialists, we explore how Theosophy envisions cosmic “building” as an evolutionary process.
We then turn to the sevenfold planetary chain, its globes, monads and life-waves, the seven great rounds of planetary evolution, the relationship between the Moon and Earth, and the idea of planetary reincarnation.
Finally, we locate humanity within the present Earth-chain and prepare for Episode 10: Anthropogenesis, the Theosophical account of human evolution on this globe.

S01E08: The Path of Self-Mastery: Initiation & Inner Transformation | Universal Theosophy Podcast
What does it mean to consciously accelerate our own spiritual evolution?
Following Episode 7’s exploration of Adepts, Mahatmas, Bodhisattvas and Nirmanakayas, we turn from the ideal to the path itself. We explore the Theosophical teachings on chelaship, probation and initiation—and why the path toward adeptship is fundamentally one of self-mastery.
What is a chela? What role does a Guru or Mahatma actually play? Why can’t a teacher simply remove the disciple’s karma or make someone enlightened? And why do the Theosophical writings warn that deliberately accelerating our development also brings our hidden tendencies, weaknesses and attachments more rapidly to the surface?
We also examine pledges and vows, freedom and responsibility within the guru-disciple relationship, initiation as a transformation of consciousness, and the development of ethical qualities such as patience, compassion, truthfulness and nonviolence as genuine spiritual powers.
Ultimately, the path begins not with occult phenomena or extraordinary abilities, but with self-knowledge, discipline, altruism and service—beginning exactly where we are.

S01E07: What Can We Become? The Highest Potential of Human Evolution | Universal Theosophy Podcast
What might a human being ultimately become?
In this episode, we explore the Theosophical idea of human perfectibility and the beings described as Adepts, Mahatmas, Masters, Bodhisattvas, and Nirmanakayas.
Beginning with the idea that evolution becomes increasingly self-directed once self-consciousness develops, we examine the possibility that individuals can advance beyond the ordinary human stage through sustained effort, inner development, and the gradual mastery of consciousness.
We discuss the meaning of Adeptship and Mahatmaship, the distinction between spiritual development and psychic powers, the Brotherhood of Adepts and its hierarchy of teachers, and the relationship between Masters and disciples.
The conversation then turns to the Bodhisattva and Nirmanakaya ideals—the choice to renounce personal liberation in order to remain connected with humanity and continue helping others.
Rather than treating the Mahatma as a supernatural being or object of worship, Theosophy presents the Adept as an indication of what human beings may eventually become.
This discussion leads directly into Episode 8, where we explore the Path itself: discipleship, probation, initiation, and the disciplines of self-mastery.

S01E06: What Happens After Death? Heaven, Hell and Rebirth | Universal Theosophy Podcast
What happens after death?
In this episode, we explore the Theosophical teachings on death, the afterlife, and the process of reincarnation. Building on our previous discussions of karma and the seven principles of the human being, we follow the cycle from physical death through Kama-Loka and Devachan, and eventually toward rebirth.
We discuss what survives death, what happens to the personality, the distinction between the higher individuality and the lower psychic nature, and the role of the “reincarnating ego.” We also explore the life review, the “second death,” the dissolution of the Kama-rupa, the spiritual rest and assimilation of Devachan, and the karmic tendencies that help shape a new incarnation.
Along the way, we consider ghosts and mediumistic phenomena, premature death and suicide, and the larger evolutionary purpose behind the cycle of birth and death.
From the Theosophical perspective, death is not the opposite of life. Life continues, while birth and death mark changing phases in a much longer evolution of consciousness.

S01E05: Spirit, Soul, Body and the Sevenfold Human Being | Universal Theosophy Podcast
What is a human being?
In this episode, we explore the idea that a human being is more than just a physical body.
Starting with familiar concepts of body, soul, and spirit, we gradually examine the sevenfold constitution presented in Theosophy: Spirit, spiritual soul, mind, desire, life-energy, the astral body, and the physical body. We also distinguish between a principle and a vehicle, and consider how consciousness operates through different levels of our nature.
Along the way, we discuss the astral body, prana or life-energy, higher and lower mind, states of consciousness, and the relationship between consciousness and substance. We touch on near-death and out-of-body experiences, and our potential for direct experience of non-bodily consciousness.
At the heart of the episode is the ancient injunction: Know thyself—and the question of why understanding our own nature matters for both everyday life and spiritual development.

S01E04: Karma & Reincarnation—Justice, Meaning and Spiritual Evolution | Universal Theosophy Podcast
In this episode, we explore karma and reincarnation from a Theosophical point of view.
Beginning with common modern assumptions about these ideas, we examine how Theosophy understands karma as a universal law of action, balance, and responsibility, and reincarnation as part of a larger evolutionary process. We discuss justice, fairness, suffering, the continuity of the reincarnating ego, and the question of what these teachings mean for daily life.
Rather than asking listeners simply to believe in karma and reincarnation, this episode approaches them as ideas to be explored and tested through reflection, experience, and self-study.

S01E03: From Theory to Practice in Theosophy | Universal Theosophy Podcast
What is practical Theosophy?
In this episode, we explore how Theosophical ideas move from theory into lived experience. Beginning with the philosophical foundations of Theosophy, we examine its view of reality, knowledge, and evolution, and how these inform a path of inner development.
We discuss the role of ethics, study, and meditation, along with key ideas such as altruism, self-directed effort, and the gradual unfolding of consciousness. The episode also introduces the concepts of adepts, initiation, and the broader path of spiritual transformation.
Rather than presenting a fixed system of practices, Theosophy is approached as a methodology—one that must be explored and developed through individual effort, guided by insight, reflection, and experience.

S01E02: A Bird’s-Eye View of Theosophy | Universal Theosophy Podcast
In this episode, we take a broad, “bird’s-eye view” of some of the central ideas in Theosophy, moving from the highest metaphysical principles down to the structure of human life and experience.
We begin with the concept of the Absolute and the One Life, exploring how unity underlies all existence and forms the basis of universal brotherhood. From there, we examine the emergence of duality—spirit and matter—and the triadic relationship of consciousness, energy, and substance.
As manifestation unfolds, we introduce key concepts such as the Logos, karma, maya, and the doctrine of cycles, along with the idea of emanation as the process by which the cosmos comes into being. We then explore the structure of reality through planes of consciousness, the evolution of monads, and the development of planetary systems.
Finally, we turn to the human level, touching on the evolution of consciousness, reincarnation, after-death states, and the sevenfold constitution of the human being.
This episode offers a foundational overview of the Theosophical worldview, providing a framework for deeper exploration in future discussions.
