Unladylike Thoughts is a podcast about the ideas we’re taught to soften, edit, or keep private, especially around love, desire, identity, and the messy ways we relate to each other.
Hosted by Marcie Reeves, the show lives in the gray, where curiosity challenges certainty and relationships resist tidy labels. These conversations aren’t advice or self-help.
They’re honest reflections on jealousy, boundaries, autonomy, and what shifts when you stop performing and start listening.
When Home Exists in Two Places at Once | Mia’s Story
This week, I’m sitting down with someone you’ve heard me mention before but probably don’t know nearly enough about
Mia was born in Ukraine and has now lived in America longer than she ever lived in the country where she was born. That simple fact sparked a conversation neither of us expected to go as deep as it did
What started as a discussion about nationality quickly turned into something much bigger. We talk about identity, belonging, survival, independence, childhood, and what happens when the place that shaped you is no longer the place where your life exists.
Mia shares stories from growing up in a small village in eastern Ukraine, navigating an unstable childhood, learning to survive at a very young age, and eventually adapting to life in an entirely different country and culture. Along the way, we explore how those experiences continue to shape the way she sees relationships, independence, trust, and herself today.
This isn’t really an episode about geography.
It’s an episode about what happens when you become someone new without fully leaving behind who you used to be.
• Growing up in eastern Ukraine• Living in America longer than her birth country• Childhood independence and survival• Learning to adapt to a completely different culture• Identity, belonging, and feeling caught between worlds• How early experiences shape adulthood• The emotional impact of immigration and adoption• Why independence can become both a strength and a defense mechanism• What “home” means when it exists in more than one place
Some conversations teach you facts.
Others help you understand people.
This one definitely falls into the second category.

Am I the Problem? Reacting to the Internet’s Wildest Relationship Confessions
Today we’re doing something a little different.
Instead of unpacking my own questionable life choices, we’re diving headfirst into the internet’s favorite pastime: judging strangers.
From toilet plunger pranks that somehow end relationships, to disappointing proposals, fake wedding rings, family drama, and even a Superman body pillow causing chaos in a relationship… nothing could have prepared me for some of these stories.
I react to real relationship dilemmas, share my honest opinions, and try to figure out who’s actually in the wrong. Spoiler alert: most situations are way messier than they seem.
Whether you’re here for the drama, the psychology behind people’s choices, or just want reassurance that your life isn’t the most chaotic one on the internet, this episode is for you.
Because if there’s one thing we learned today, it’s that everyone is carrying around their own weird little brand of dysfunction.
And honestly? That’s kind of comforting.
The toilet plunger prank that ended a relationship
Why disappointing proposals hurt more than people admit
Family conflict over major life decisions
The fake wedding ring debate
A relationship threatened by a Superman body pillow
Why intention matters more than perfection
The difference between being hurt and being wrong
Internet judgment vs real-life nuance
Which story had the worst take?
Who do you think was actually in the wrong?
Drop your verdicts in the comments because I know some of you are going to disagree with me.

I Thought This Was Normal… Apparently It’s Not
Have you ever casually admitted something you thought was completely normal… only to discover everyone else thinks you’re absolutely unhinged?
In this episode of Unladylike Thoughts, we’re putting everyday behaviors on trial. From deep-diving someone’s social media after one date to arriving at the airport three hours early, we’re asking the important questions: Is this normal behavior… or are we all just pretending we’re okay?
We get into dating habits, relationship boundaries, family drama, texting etiquette, social media validation, road rage, grocery carrying strategies, and a shocking amount of discussion about sitting on the toilet longer than necessary.
Along the way, we accidentally uncover how childhood, religion, relationships, anxiety, and personality shape what each of us considers “normal.”
So grab a drink, keep score at home, and prepare to judge me as harshly as I judged everyone else.
Topics include:
• Internet sleuthing before a first date
• Relationship boundaries and social media
• Texting games and delayed replies
• Family conflict and avoiding confrontation
• Sharing secrets with your partner
• Road rage and public behavior
• Social media validation
• Airport anxiety and over-preparing
• Grocery carrying philosophy
• Everyday habits that might actually be unhinged
Question of the episode:
Which one of these takes did you disagree with the most?
Drop your most controversial “normal behavior” in the comments.
