I love God. I have questions. And that’s okay.
Unmending Faith is a space for faithful doubt and thoughtful belief. My name is Wanipa, and this podcast explores what it means to question deeply, hold tension, and revisit what we’ve always held about God, Scripture, and the church.
Through honest conversations and thoughtful reflection, it makes room for complexity, curiosity, and growth.
This is a journey without a guaranteed endpoint —but you’re welcome to come along.
Whether your faith feels uncertain, in-between, or even out of reach, you’re welcome here.
010 - Asking Questions Without Letting Go ft. Adrian Gardner
I started Unmending Faith with a simple conviction: I love God, I have questions, and that’s okay.
Over this season, we’ve asked plenty of them: about doubt, belief, power, salvation, culture, redemption, heaven and hell, and so much more.
But what happens when the questions remain? Better yet, when more arise?
For the season finale, I’m joined by my dear, dear friend Adrian Gardner to talk about what it means to keep asking and still remain. It is through walking with Adrian that I had the courage to pull the thread that began unmending my own faith.
We talk about doubt, identity, the questions that have shaped us, and what it means to keep following God when we don’t have everything figured out.
This was a special one.

009 - What is Hell? Ft. Darren Pascall
What is hell?
For many of us, the answer is obvious: Fire. Eternal suffering. A place where those who reject God are punished forever.
But how much of that picture actually comes from Scripture and how much have we inherited through centuries of interpretation, art and tradition?
In Episode 9 of Unmending Faith, I’m joined by elder Darren Pascall to explore one of Christianity’s most uncomfortable and perhaps misunderstood doctrines.
We’ll ask what the Bible actually says and what happens when we take seriously the tension between a God who is just and a God who is love.
We’ll also explore a different understanding of final judgement: one in which eternal life is a gift from God, and the ultimate fate of sin is not eternal conscious torment, but destruction and the “second death”.
But this isn’t an episode about proving one theological system right.
It’s about asking what we’ve inherited, whether it holds up, and what our understanding of hell reveals about the God we believe in.

008 - Who Gets Redemption?
Who is the hardest person for you to imagine God forgiving?
Most Christians believe in redemption — until the person in front of us makes redemption feel offensive.
But on the other hand, have our ideas of grace and redemption sometimes been used as an excuse for those in power to evade accountability?
In Episode 8 of Unmending Faith, I’m joined by my dear friend and favourite speaker. Wanitta Powell to explore what happens when our theology of grace encounters real human brokenness.
Can we believe someone can change without minimising the harm they’ve caused?
Can forgiveness exist without reconciliation?
And if the gospel really is for everyone, what do we do with the people we would rather believe are beyond it?

007 - Is Christianity the White Man’s Religion?
Is Christianity the “White Man’s Religion”?
In this episode of Unmending Faith, I’m joined by one of my closest friends and favourite thinkers, Mary-Hannah, to explore one of the most provocative questions facing the Church today.
Together, we unpack the complex relationship between Christianity, colonialism, race, and culture, and consider how Western ideals have shaped not only the spread of the faith, but also the way many of us read and interpret Scripture.
From individualism and power to community, justice, and identity, we ask what it means to distinguish the gospel from the cultural assumptions we’ve inherited—and whether following Jesus requires us to re-examine the lenses through which we’ve been taught to read the Bible.
Stay open. Stay curious.

006 - Who gets to go to Heaven? ft. Pastor Pavle Trajkovski
If a loving, self-sacrificial atheist and an abusive Christian both died tonight, who would you expect to see in heaven?
It’s an uncomfortable question. But perhaps an even deeper one is this: what does our answer reveal about the God we believe in?
In Episode 6 of Unmending Faith, I’m joined by Pastor Pavle Trajkovski as we wrestle with one of Christianity’s oldest questions.
What about those who *have not* heard the gospel? Those who encountered Christianity through colonialism, slavery, or abuse and *cannot* reconcile the message with the messenger? Or those who simply reject Christianity, yet still live lives marked by remarkable compassion and integrity?
Have Christians been too quick to draw lines around God’s mercy?

005 - Christians & the World: Faith, Politics & Justice
Can a person love God and hate their neighbour? Better yet, can a person love God and remain silent about the systems that oppress their neighbour?
In Episode 5 of Unmending Faith, I’m joined by Akil Henry as we wrestle with the relationship between Christianity, politics, and power.
Because the Christianity of Jesus was never merely private. It fed the hungry, challenged injustice, confronted religious and political authorities, and proclaimed a kingdom that stood in tension with every earthly empire.
And yet, history - and recent events - show us that when Christianity gets too close to power, things become distorted.
So where’s the line?
Is political engagement part of Christian discipleship, or a distraction from the gospel? How does redemption feature (if at all) into cancel culture? And if Jesus walked among us today, would He feel at home in any of our political movements, or challenge them all?

004 - Did God Change? Ft. Xoli Belgrave
Can a truly loving God also be violent?
In Episode 4 of Unmending Faith, I’m joined by Xoli Belgrave as we explore one of Christianity’s most difficult questions: whether the God of the Old Testament is truly consistent with the God revealed in Jesus.
Together, we wrestle with judgement, mercy, and what it means to call God good in light of the passages we’d often rather avoid. Ignoring these questions won’t make them disappear. So what do we do when the version of God we’ve inherited no longer feels morally uncomplicated?
This conversation is all about Scripture, tension, and the ongoing work of learning who God really is. Honestly.

003 - Is Belief a Performance? ft. Curtis Powell
Where does genuine conviction end, and social conditioning begin…?
In Episode 3 of Unmending Faith, I’m joined by Curtis Powell to explore the tension between authentic belief and performed belief — and the ways conformity, expectation, and the desire to belong shape religious spaces.
Together, we reflect on certainty, social conditioning, community, and what happens when appearing spiritually “okay” becomes safer than honesty.
Not because people are fake.
Not because faith isn’t real.
But because human beings are undeniably influenced by the communities they exist in.
This conversation is all about belonging, influence, tension, and the necessary work of unmending.

002 - Who taught you God? Faith, Formation & Spiritual Inheritance ft. Shade
Most of us don’t choose our first beliefs; we inherit them.
In Episode 2 of Unmending Faith, I’m joined by my wonderful guest, Shade, to explore faith formation and spiritual inheritance — how our understanding of God is shaped by family, culture, community, and the environments we grow up in.
Together, we reflect on inherited beliefs, personal faith, and what happens when we begin to question the things we’ve always known.
This conversation is all about identity, influence, tension, and the ongoing work of unmending.

001 - Doubt is Allowed: The Beginning of Unmending Faith
In this first episode, I share a personal reflection on my journey so far and how I got to the place of starting this podcast. I explore what it felt like to start asking questions about my faith I thought were too big to ask, and the tension of holding on while everything felt uncertain.
I’m beginning to realise that doubt doesn’t have to signal the end of faith, but the start of something more honest. There’s a beauty in the wrestling.
If that resonates with you, you’re not alone.
