TAXABLE BY DESIGN: A Warning Not to Use LTD Recipts For Taxes
They told you the LTD event fees were “just for rent.” They told you it was “just a service.”
They told you there was no profit, no admission, and no sales tax obligation. That explanation only works if no one is getting paid. But they are. In this episode, we break down the real reason LTD must charge sales tax for EVERY LTD event. It's not simply because people attend LTD events, but because higher-ups receive income from EVERY LTD event.
Once LTD event fees become a source of compensation for LTD higher-ups, the transaction changes. It is no longer a pass-through. It is taxable revenue. We explain this in plain language. Why calling admission a “service” doesn’t erase tax liability. Why labeling tickets as “venue reimbursement” fails the moment money is retained or distributed; and why control over pricing and access matters more than the words on the receipt.
We apply the same analysis to Night Owls, Jam Sessions, Attitude Sessions, and Freedom Parties, showing why they are all treated the same under the law despite being marketed differently. We also expose what never gets shown: higher-ups earning more income from the LTD compensation plan than the Amway compensation plan, avoiding real profit-and-loss statements, and selling a lifestyle that often isn’t supported by their actual numbers.
Finally, we explain the hidden risk of low level ranks in LTD being audited by the IRS. When sales tax isn’t collected for every LTD event, low level ranking LTD members that use LTD recipts-(from paying admission to LTD events) for taxes are the ones left exposed if an audit ever happens.
