Abdul Basit Abdus Samad also spelled Abdul Baset Abdus Samad or Abdul Basit Abdul Samad was a highly renowned and iconic Quran reciter from Egypt. Born in 1927 in Armant a village in Luxor Governorate Egypt he began memorizing the Quran at a very young age and completed it by the age of 10. He is considered one of the greatest reciters in history, known for his exceptionally melodious voice, remarkable breath control, and profound emotional delivery that deeply moves listeners. He primarily recited in the Hafs ‘an Asim narration and was a master of both the Mujawwad (melodic and elaborate) and Murattal (plain and clear) styles of recitation. His recitations gained immense popularity globally through radio and television broadcasts and numerous recordings. Digital Quranic archives feature an extensive collection of his recitations including complete recitations of the Holy Quran and various individual surahs which are studied and emulated by reciters worldwide. This particular audio features Sheikh Abdul Basit Abdus Samad’s recitation of the Holy Quran in Arabic accompanied by an Urdu translation. He traveled extensively throughout the Islamic world and beyond performing recitations in mosques and at various events and was honored with numerous titles and awards. He passed away in 1988 leaving an enduring legacy as one of the most beloved and influential voices of the Quran.
