Vanished Hillsdale shares stories about the history of Hillsdale, Michigan with the intent of increasing interest in the preservation of the County's past by bolstering membership in and support of the Hillsdale County Historical Society, The Mitchell research Center, and other local historical preservation entities.
Since COVID has stopped the Hillsdale County Fair for the first time in its history, we thought we'd spend some time looking back on past fairs and talking about what the future may have in store.
To talk about the decision to cancel this years' fair, we sat down with Lori Hull, Hillsdale County Fair Manager, and life-long fair "resident". Following that, Bob Flynn, General Manager of WCSR 92.1 talks about his quarter-century of broadcasting during fair week, and his experiences at the fair in the years before he became "The Voice of the Fair".
Lastly, we share a one-minute soundscape of previous Hillsdale County Fairs - a sixty-second immersion into what this week normally sounds like in Hillsdale, Michigan.

Vanished Hillsdale
It only makes sense that the first Vanished Hillsdale podcast should talk about, well, Vanished Hillsdale. How did it start? What is it for? We visit with Vanished Hillsdale founder Greg McLogan to learn how it all began. We also take a quick trip back to 2017 to hear one more story from the late Sally Fallon.

Introducing Vanished Hillsdale (The Podcast)
Time marches on, so they say, and things that once were, no longer are. Sometimes the changes are subtle, sometimes they're dramtic, but without fail, the changes come.
Here we plan to explore those things that no longer are - that have, in fact, vanished. Each week, we'll share stories related to Hillsdale's history in the hopes of fostering a greater interest in not only that topic but local history in general.
As we start planning upcoming episodes, we'd love to get your thoughts and suggestions. If you follow the podcast link, you can leave a voice message for us. It can be a suggested topic, comments about the podcast, or, better yet, a memory you have of Hilldale's past. We'll use these messages to shape future episodes, and some of the recordings may even be used in the podcast. We look forward to hearing from you!
