E20 YOGA OF DEVOTION (PART 1 OF 5)
YOGA OF DEVOTION Part 1 of 5 Without devotion to God, self-realization is not possible. With intense love and devotion to Lord, when the Transcendental and Formless Absolute is conceived in a form by a yogi-devotee, He manifests into that form as conceived by His child. This manifestation happens because of devotee's intense love to God. In this video Gurudev Sri Swami Brahmananda Giri describes about the nature of true devotion from his experience. E12. KriyaYoga & VasiYoga | கிரியாயோகம் & வாசியோகம்
KriyaYoga & VasiYoga In this podcast, Gurudev differentiates between Kriyayoga and present-day Vasi Yoga. Whatever bypaths one may follow, he/she has to pass through the royal pathway before finally reaching the destination, i.e., God. This royal pathway is the Sushumna (spine) Nadi. Without awakening, Sushumna divine attainment is never possible to anyone. This can be done with the knowledge of its true science, i.e., Kriyayoga, or without knowledge. E14. God-realization is Brain Expansion The realization of one's real identity as a Soul, an intelligent spark of the Almighty, is possible only through the evolutionary expansion of one's consciousness. E13. Who is Guru? குரு யார்
E13. Who is Guru The grace of Guru is what matters most in spiritual attainment. To bless a devotee with the true realization of his soul, the guru must be a realized master. Those who exhibit show-offs and tricks are not Gurus. They can never make devotees enlightened. Guru should be immortal, like Mahavatar Babaji. Gurudev Sri Swami Brahmananda Giri explains the real idea of Guru through the story of Lahiri Mahasaya. He also describes his own experience with Babaji. SANMARGAM (Thirumanthiram Part 9)- Discourse by Gurudev Sri Swami Brahmananda Giri. Thirumanthiram 1479. One without clarity will not attain Shiva. Clarity means Divine Unconditional Compassion or Jiva Karunyam. One who realise this, will attain Deathless Life, says Sri Vallalar. Gurudev advices how to expand the Divine Jiva Jyoti. Always think that 'I am Light'. Even while sleeping one should not sleep in darkness. Always remain in the feeling of Light. E10. திருமந்திரம் (அத்தியாயம் 8) சன்மார்கம் Thirumanthiram (Part 8) SANMARGAM
SANMARGAM (THIRUMANTHIRAM Part 8)- Discourse by Gurudev Sri Swami Brahmananda Giri. Gurudev explains Thirumanthiram 1478. The end of spiritual sadhana is the experience of the ultimate reality or Shivam as Divine Light, beyond which is inexplicable. This is Sanmargam. All demigods became as such through Sanmarga. To explain Gurudev tells the story of Adimudi Thedal. The most important sadhana in Sanmargam is the practice of Jeeva Karunya, Unconditional Compassion to All Living Beings. This will emerge only when we see our own soul in every living being. Lord Buddha was a great example. The Practice of Sanmargam develops the Jiva-Jyothi or Light of Life. Initially it will be experienced as a small dot, Bindu. The devotee meditates this light and in time this light expands to engulf the entire universe. This Light is God. When you follow Sanmargam, you become Shiva. E9. திருமந்திரம் (அத்தியாயம் 7 ) சன்மார்கம்-Thirumanthiram (Part 7) SANMARGAM
SANMARGAM [THIRUMANTHIRAM Part 7]- Discourse by Gurudev Sri Swami Brahmanada Giri. In this episode Gurudev describes about ultimate spiritual knowledge and the path of attaining it. One who is in the second step of spiritual evolution worships deities. Even after the respective deity manifest before the devotee, he/she will not be released from the repeated cycles of births and deaths, as such experience doesn't produce true wisdom or Jnana. But, such worship and resultant blessings from the deity will lead the devotee to a true Guru. This is the result of Kiriya Marga. The techer or Sadguru will enlighten the devotee about the true nature of his/her soul and God as beyond names and forms, i.e., formless and he/she is not different from Him. He teaches him how to worship that Formless God. Gurudev explaining Thirumanthiram 1477, says Sanmargam or Right/True Path is the way to worship. E8. திருமந்திரம் (அத்தியாயம்6) -Thirumanthiram (Part 6)
திருமந்திரம் (அத்தியாயம் 6)-விளக்க உரை /Thirumanthiram (Episode 6)-Gurudev Sri Swami Brahmananda Giri Worshipping idols, as conceived by the sages of India, is a stage of the human soul progressing towards perfection. The Saiva Siddhantha describes this stage as Kriya (path of action). The action here means to surrender one's mind and consciousness and remain in the remembrance of a single form of God. Gurudev explains, "Water is everywhere beneath the earth. But to get it we have to dig a well. Likewise, God is everywhere. But when a devotee conceives Omnipresent God in an image with supreme devotion, He will definitely manifest in that form." The form that God takes as per the intense love of the devotee is called Ishta Devata or deity. E6. திருமந்திரம் (அத்தியாயம் 4)-Thirumanthiram (Part 4)
Thirumanthiram (Part 4)-Gurudev Sri Swami Brahmananda Giri/திருமந்திரம் (அத்தியாயம் 4)-விளக்க உரை Thirumanthiram divides the spiritual development of a human soul into four consecutive stages, viz., Sariyai, Kiriyai, Yogam, and Jnanam, wgich can be loosely translated as the path of external worship, the path of idol worship, the path of searching for god in one's body, the accomplishment of the knowledge that I and God are one respectively. In this discourse on Thirumantiram, Gurudev describes the path of external worship or Sariyai. He, pointing to Lord Thirumoola, says that yoga is not mere breathings. It is a complete sadhana which encompasses all the four paths. He speaks by quoting examples of many great erstwhile devotees like Sakkubai, Kurur Amma, Villvamangalam, et al, to show how a devotee was being helped and blessed by the Lord. He also points out the importance of worship of a Godly-form or deity. He says, "God is not a mere void or nothingness as you think. He takes forms as per the intense devotional call of His devotees". E4. திருமந்திரம் (அத்தியாயம் 2)-விளக்க உரை (தெய்வீக ஒலி தியானம்)/Thirumanthiram (Part 2)- Meditating Divine Sounds- Gurudev Sri Swami Brahmananda Giri
E4. Thirumanthiram (Part 2)- Meditating Divine Sounds-திருமந்திரம் (அத்தியாயம் 2)-விளக்க உரை (தெய்வீக ஒலி தியானம்)/ Gurudev Sri Swami Brahmananda Giri The practice of various pranayamas or life-force control techniques invokes the experience of Divine Sounds or Aum in the yogi's body. Through yoga, the yogi withdraws all the bodily currents of life-force into the temple of God, i.e the cerebrospinal centers, in his body. The concentration of life force and consciousness in these centers invokes Divine Astral Sounds. By meditating on these Sounds, the yogi gradually climbs up the ladder to higher consciousness. Finally, he enters the Kingdom of Spirit through these Cosmic Sounds heard in his body. In this episode of Mahamui Tirimular's Thirumanthiram, Gurudev Sri Swami Brahmananda Giri explains the divine experience of Sounds a true seeker of truth will have on his way to God. It is only through the grace and ardent practice of yoga accompanied by deep devotion these sounds are invoked in a yoga student's body. So, one who can listen to these sounds is truly blessed. The door to liberation is opened for him/her. These sounds alone is the path because it alone is the connecting link between the individualized soul or Jiva and Supreme Soul, God. Thirumanthiram (Part 3)- Gurudev Sri Swami Brahmananda Giri This episode is the continuation of previous ones. In this episode, Gurudev describes how a human embryo inside its mother's womb absorbs life energy from Cosmos. In the mother's womb, the embryo lies in a state of "tapas", penance. It doesn't breathe, but remains connected with the Spirit through cerebrospinal centres. Gurudev also defines what yoga is or its true purpose. Yoga is restraining the prana-energy that enters the human body through the medulla to go downward but lifting it up and storing it in the brain. This is the purpose of meditation. E1. தெய்வீக ஒலிகளை தியானித்தல்- Meditating on Divine Sounds/Gurudev Sri Swami Brahmananda Giri (Part 1/2)
Meditating on Divine Sounds/தெய்வீக ஒலிகளை தியானித்தல் Even from the beginning of his spiritual journey, a yoga-sadhaka will be connected with the higher realms of his existence. As a result of grace and his austere yoga-meditation practice, he begins to perceive divine astral music that vibrates in and sustains his body and universe during meditation which helps him to tune his consciousness with higher realms. These astral sounds, a meditating yogi hears, are not mere imaginations of his subconscious mind. It comes out as a result of the activation of his cerebrospinal centers or Chakras. The Cosmic Symphony he/she listens is nothing but the Aum, the Sound of Creation. As per the developmental stages of each devotee, Aum is perceived in various forms. For a fully advanced yogi, all the sounds of Cosmic Aum is heard as a celestial symphony, along with the opening of the Third Eye, the gateway to God. Whatever spiritual path one may follow, the power of Kundalini must be awakened. The only true experience of awakened Kundalini is the experience of Divine Sounds, a yogi hears. This Sounds or Aum is the bridge that connects the mortal soul with the immortal Spirit. So, meditating on Divine Inner Sounds is the surest way to God. In this episode, Gurudev Sri Swami Brahmananda Giri describes vividly how to practice Sound-meditation and what experience comes out during it, based on his Guru's (Sri Umesh Chandra Ji, Ram Thirth Yogashram, Mumbai) writings and from his own experience.
