Known as the abode in the clouds, Meghalaya is not only famous for its scenic landscapes but also for being one of the cleanest states in India. Discover interesting facts about this state, including Asia's cleanest village and the majestic Umgot river.</p><p><br></p><p>We then shift our focus to a remarkable young girl named Camellia who saved her intellectually disabled brother from a fire. One evening a fire broke out in her neighbour's house. Before they could do anything, the flames had spread to Camellia's house as well. Her parents had gone out for some work. Camellia was at home with her brother. When the fire spread to her home, she had to decide fast how how to save herself and her brother.</p><p><br></p><p>Her brother panicked and was unable to get out of the house. Camellia had good presence of mind. Due to her extraordinary courage of saving her brother's life, she was awarded the Babu Gaidhani Award of 2018.</p><p>With quick thinking and courage, Camellia's story reminds us of the strength and bravery within children. Story of Setu Malik (Bapu Gaidhani Award)
<p>Listen to the story of courage of Setu Malik- Bapu Gaidhani Award Winner 2018. </p><p><br></p><p>tory of Setu Malik. Kids, you all know that every year children who show immense valour are awarded the National Bravery Awards. Ketu malik is a 14 year old boy from Odisha. The place where he stayed was near a small creek. Like every night his uncle Binod Malik returned home from work. He had his dinner and then decided to wash his hands in the water of the creek. As soon as Binod Malik put his hands in the water, a crocodile which was lying underwater quickly grabbed his hand and try to pull him underwater. Did you know children that every year approximately 1000 human beings are killed by crocodiles worldwide? The two species which are prone to attack are the Nile crocodile and the saltwater crocodile. </p><p><br></p><p>The saltwater crocodiles are mainly found in the Indian subcontinent. And since in this case there was a small creek which had salt water, the crocodile attack would have been fatal. Do you know Steve Irwin? He was a famous wildlife enthusiast from Australia. He grew up in an animal farm and was fascinated by animals and their lives. He was an anchor of the famous show Crocodile Hunter which was very famous on television. In fact, he used to go searching for crocodiles and would find fearlessly catch them. Let's resume today's story. Vinod Malik started shouting for help. Setu Malik who was standing nearby did not panic. In fact, he used a torch in his hand to distract the animal by focusing on the crocodile's eyes. </p><p><br></p><p>But the animal did not leave his uncle Binod. Next, he took a bamboo stick lying nearby and and hit it hard on the head of the crocodile. The crocodile struck with a strong blow, lost the grip of Vinod's hand and slipped in the water. Setu carried his wounded uncle safely to the side. Binod Malik was taken to the hospital and treated for the wound. Jhili Bagh (Bapu Gaidhani Bravery Award)
<p>Listen to the story of valour of Jhili Bagh- Bapu Gaidhani Award Winner 2018.</p><p>Jilly Bagh was eight years old when this incident occurred. It was vacation time and she along with her three year old sister Milli and other kids were playing in an open area. There was a well nearby. While playing, her three year old sister accidentally fell into the water and started drowning. All the children panicked and did not know what to do. Jilly quickly took charge of the situation. </p><p><br></p><p>She told her friends to go and inform her family and others to come quickly to save her sister. In the meantime, without thinking about her life, she jumped into the well. Do you know how deep the well was? It was 25ft. And she took her drowning sister from the water and held her up in a parallel position for close to 20 minutes till her family and others came to the rescue. Once the villagers came near the well, one jumped into the well to rescue both the children. </p><p><br></p><p>Thus, due to the extraordinary courage of Jilly, her sister Millie was saved.
