AI Robots Can Do a Third of Physical Work, but Rarely Pay Off
An Anthropic analysis, reported by HR Dive on October 14, 2026, estimates that robots can perform 34% of US physical work hours but are cost-effective in only 0.3% of cases, about 300,000 jobs, with 2.8 million at risk seven years out. The argument here is that the gap will close in steps, task by task, as the cost of a robot-hour drops below that of a human worker: driving and warehousing first, construction much later.

AI Data Centers Go Behind the Meter: On-Site Power to 13 GW
Cleanview counts 2 GW of on-site-powered data centers in the US as of mid-2026 and estimates up to 13 GW by the end of 2027. In New Albany, Meta is running tents on gas turbines and has cut build times in half. The argument is that AI's power bottleneck has moved from the grid to on-campus generation, with a forecast that can be checked at the end of 2027.

Paris Motor Show 2026: BYD's 1,500 kW Charging Race in Europe
The Paris Motor Show opened on October 12, 2026 with 25 Chinese brands, roughly double the 2024 count according to CGTN, and BYD unveiled the Atto 8 with 1,500 kW Flash Charging. With tariffs and caps freezing prices, the race shifts to charging minutes. The real constraint is the charging network: I forecast that by the end of 2027 fewer than 1,000 of the roughly 3,000 planned chargers will be operational in Europe.
