ACCEPTANCE | Let Go & Allow Life To Surprise You | Chasing My Dream Vlog

After watching a video by <a href="https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCybBViio_TH_uiFFDJuz5tg">@Einzelgänger</a> about Taoism, I began thinking a lot about letting go in my pursuit to publish my book. This reflection led me to conclude that my mentality was doing me more harm than good.    See, my mentality at the time as I sent out queries to potential agents was to put all my hopes and dreams into the "dream" agent. Suffice to say, when that rejection came from the "dream" agent, I became an emotional and angry mess.    Not good.   Not good at all.   I want to be happy.  I want to be calm.   So, to do that, I adopted a new mentality. As I send out the occasional query to an agent or publisher, and as I'm entering writing contests, I assert my willpower and do the best damn job I can do. Then, when I'm happy with my query or short story, I click submit and let go.   I let go of my expectations.  I let go of my hope.  Of my dreams.   And I move on to the next mountain to climb.    Why? Because much like a farmer who's planted their crops, there's nothing more for me to do on my end. I must step aside and allow the crops to grow on their own.   Success has many roads. Currently, I'm trying out different roads to publish my book, asserting my willpower when appropriate but knowing full well when to let go. The Importance of Following Your Heart | CHASING MY DREAM VLOG

After dealing with overwhelming stress and anxiety, I decided to quit querying. I made this decision because though I've gotten comments from literary agents that have stated my writing is strong and my story is exciting, they're still not willing to take a chance on my book — which is bold, long, ambitious, and different from others in the market.  So, instead of querying, I came up with two ways to build an audience and anticipation for my book which was inspired by E.L. James' journey in publishing Fifty Shades of Grey. One plan involves writing, which I won't share for some time, but the other involves this vlog. Chasing My Dream will follow my journey in publishing my book, Void. I'll share how I deal with anxiety as an author, the problem I have with the publishing industry, and so much more. The aim of these vlogs, besides helping me better understand my thoughts and emotions throughout my writing journey, is to hopefully help out other authors who are in the same boat as I am.  Do you feel like you have an amazing story? Do you feel like it'll have a profound impact on people? And are literary agents and publishers not willing to take a chance on your book? Then join me on my journey and recognize that our path will not be easy.  We're straying from the main road and are forging our own. Such a choice means we will struggle more than others, cry more than others, and bleed more than others.  But such a choice means that we will also thrive more. And laugh more.
