<p>Ich finde unser heutiges Thema „Demokratie als Bauherr“ sehr interessant, weil Architektur immer auch Herrschaftsverhältnisse zum Ausdruck bringt. Was sind für Sie typische Gebäude, die demokratische Gesinnung repräsentieren?</p> <p>Fangen wir mit den Schulen an: Sind die denn nicht noch immer mehr wie Kasernen? Was müsste sich Ihrer Meinung nach bei denen ändern?</p> <p>Amtsgebäude sind oft wahre Labyrinthe mit endlosen Gängen, oft nicht sehr hilfreichen Wegweisern und oft stickigen und gesichtslosen Amtsstuben – Eindruck einer verwirrenden, muffigen Verwaltung. Wie sollten Architekten das anders gestalten?</p> <p>Das Parlament sieht bei uns in Österreich aus wie ein alter griechischer Tempel und wird mit millionenaufwand renoviert. Ist diese Art Gebäude überhaupt noch zeitgemäß?</p> <p>Die Gemeindebauten waren in den 20er-Jahren des vorigen Jahrhunderts bahnbrechend. Sie sehen aber aus wie Trutzburgen, vermutlich ein Ausdruck der kämpferischen Grundstimmung in der damaligen Zeit. Dennoch haben sie einen gewissen Charme. Abgesehen von der Größe der Wohnungen, ist das nicht noch immer ein passendes Modell, attraktiver als die Wohnsiedlungen á la Schöpfwerk oder Rennbahnweg?</p>
