#23 A Balaton-felvidéki ásványoktól a japán kultúráig
Él a Balaton-felvidéken egy hölgy, akit a legtöbben keramikus tervezművészként ismernek, mégis valójában jóval több az, amit Néma Júlia képvisel. Egy igazi kulturális kalandor, aki egyenesen Japánból hozott el egy különleges szellemiséget, amit az Európa Kulturális Főváros programmal közösen igyekszik meghonosítani nálunk is. Emellett különleges ásványokat gyűjt, ezekből pedig használati tárgyakat is készít. De az ő nevéhez kapcsolódik egy Magyarországon még egyedülállónak számító fatüzes kemence bevezetése is. Ezekről is szó lesz 2023 utolsó adásában, ahogy a Balaton-felvidék geodiverzitásáról is állandó szereplőinkkel, Szekeres Dáviddal és Raffai Csillával.

#22 Finding beauty and balance in horses in the Veszprém Balaton region
In our last English language show of our Veszprém Balaton Calling series, we talk online with the wonderful Elena Sudak, an artist, a horse keeper, and an expert on horse health. We follow her long and winding road from her birthplace, Moscow, to her international career in banking and legal recruitment to her settling down in a tanya near Lajosmizse, Bács-Kiskun county, Hungary. Elena spends most of her time working with horses and promoting safe horsekeeping – with a special emphasis on maintaining the health of these precious animals. She has already been invited as a trained equine therapist to various stud farms such as that of Szépalma Hotel near Zirc. Elena is also an artist and an art facilitator, who makes small paper sculptures of - you guessed - mostly horses, with a unique technique like the papier maché method but without water. We could already see her artwork in the newly renovated Auer House in Veszprém, at the time of the International Convention of Violin Makers in October. Elena loves the natural beauty of the Balaton highlands, and she spends as much time here as she can sailing with friends, swimming, horse riding or just enjoying a concert or an exhibition. At the end of this podcast, she shares with us her dream of opening an art gallery and a holistic rehabilitation facility for horses in the region. Volunteering for the European Capital of Culture project – the experience of a lifetime
In this, 21st, podcast of the Veszprém Balaton Calling series we talk with Tímea Tóth, one of the longest serving young volunteers of the ECC 2023 project in the Veszprém-Balaton region about her personal motivations and her experiences. Coming from the small town of Négyfalu in Romania, Tímea joined the ECC 2023 staff in February after she was selected as one of the four international volunteers sponsored by the European Solidarity Corps. She has been tasked with meeting and guiding international, sometimes diplomatic, guests in and around Veszprém, and she has also been helping out with the event organizing work of the “Shinies” (Ragyogók), the community of local volunteers. In this podcast, she is sharing with us what she loves about volunteering, which her favorite pálinka is, and how she thinks the ECC year has changed cultural life in the Veszprém-Balaton region once and for all.
