About Veterans Views

We Got Your 6 and 12 is a powerful monthly podcast dedicated to supporting veterans, active-duty service members, military families, first responders, and the communities that stand beside them. Hosted by veterans who understand the challenges of military life, the show creates a safe space for honest conversations about the difficult topics that are often left unspoken. From veteran suicide prevention and mental health struggles to PTSD, grief, survivor guilt, family relationships, transition to civilian life, and the lasting impact of military service, We Got Your 6 and 12 tackles the issues that matter most with compassion, authenticity, and hope. Each episode features veterans, advocates, mental health professionals, Gold Star families, nonprofit leaders, and community organizations sharing their experiences, resources, and stories of resilience. The goal is simple: to remind those who served that they are never alone and to connect listeners with the support systems available to them. The name reflects a military tradition—"I've got your six" means I've got your back, while "I've got your twelve" means I'm watching what's ahead. Together, it represents a commitment to supporting one another through life's challenges, both seen and unseen.

Episode 2 We Got Your 6 and 12: Joe and Bernadette Rhodes, and Stacy Garcelon Williams Supporting Gold Star Families, Grief & Veteran Communities Episode 2

In this episode of We Got Your 6 and 12, Connie Karras continues an important conversation about Gold Star families, military loss, grief, suicide prevention, and the importance of community support. Connie is joined by Joe and Bernadette Rhodes, who share their experience following the loss of their son, Luke, and discuss their efforts to create the Northwest Indiana Gold Star Family Support Group—a local space where military families experiencing loss can connect with others who understand what they are going through. The conversation also features Stacy Garcelon Williams of Anum Cara Equine Stables, who discusses peer support, mental health resources, suicide prevention, and the healing connection between people and horses. The episode explores the challenges veterans and military families can face when transitioning back to civilian life, navigating government services, coping with grief, and finding meaningful community connections. The guests also highlight local resources and organizations supporting veterans, Gold Star families, suicide-loss survivors, and others experiencing crisis. Most importantly, this episode is a reminder that you are not alone. Sometimes healing begins simply by showing up, finding your people, and knowing that someone is willing to listen.
