Schon vor einigen Jahrzehnten wunderte sich ein Softwareentwickler, was den Menschen denn so den Kopf vernebelt, dass sie glaubten, Computer würden keine Fehler machen. Heute sind wir mit den „Halluzinationen“, „Lügen“ - also den Fehlern großer Sprachmodelle wie ChatGPT - konfrontiert. Trotzdem vertrauen viele Menschen den Aussagen der KI und überprüfen die Ergebnisse nicht.Der Vortrag widmet sich der Geschichte maschineller und menschlicher Fehler. Er diskutiert die Hartnäckigkeit des Maschinenglaubens, das Stereotyp vom fehlerhaften Menschen sowie die Zunahme technologischer Fehler in den letzten Dekaden, um schließlich zu thematisieren, warum wir eine „Error Literacy“ brauchen. Martina Heßler ist Professorin für Technikgeschichte an der TU Darmstadt. Sie beschäftigt sich mit der Geschichte von Mensch-Maschinen-Verhältnissen, mit Technikemotionen und technologischen Fehlern. Martina Heßler ist Mitglied von acatech . Die Veranstaltung findet in Kooperation mit der Deutschen Akademie der Technikwissenschaften (acatech) statt.
