Zack Bennett was born in 1981... but between obsessing over Super Nintendo, Michael Jordan, and baseball cards, he never got around to watching some of the most iconic films of the '80s.
Now, in his 40s, with the help of his movie-loving friends, he's finally going to get caught up. Listen as your favorite childhood films are recapped by the people who love them most, and a guy who is just now seeing them for the first time.

Friday the 13th (1980)
UPDATED FILE, NOW WITH THE FULL EPISODE! Oops. Sorry about that...
The iconic 1980 slasher flick, Friday the 13th, is the subject of this episode. Zack and his childhood friend, Ryan Smith, discuss the movie that spawned 11 sequels and continues to inspire the horror genre today. Listen as they discuss the mundane lives of teenage camp counselors who get picked off by a crazed killer one-by-one by the killer, who... well, the killer isn't who you think it is, when you think about Friday the 13th. They also discuss the cast, who (with one exception) seemed to have their acting careers peak with this film.
Oh, and for some reason, they divert onto a lengthy Ghostbusters tangent, too.

Labyrinth (1986)
Sixteen-year-old Sarah (Jennifer Connelly) must navigate an elaborate labyrinth to save her baby brother from the evil Goblin King, Jareth (David Bowie), but along the way, she is helped & hindered by a bunch of Muppets... well, not THE Muppets, but similar puppeteered creatures from the workshop of Jim Henson. It's 1986's box office bomb Labyrinth, which despite its poor performance upon release, has become a cult favorite in the years since...but not for everyone.
Zack discusses this film with TWO guests this week: sisters Kelli Falconberry and Erin Anfinson.

The Lost Boys (1987)
Santa Carla, California is the murder capital of the world, and there's a reason: the town is overrun with vampires. Two brothers, new to town, find themselves on opposite sides of the vampire epidemic. It's the comedy/horror hybrid that has become a cult classic -- 1987's "The Lost Boys", starring Jason Patric, Corey Haim, Corey Feldman, Kiefer Sutherland, Dianne Weist, Jami Gertz, and more.
Zack welcomes back Michael Yeager (heard previously on the "Beverly Hills Cop" episode) to discuss.

Footloose (1984)
You know the song. You can't help but tap your toes. But don't do it in Bomont, because dancing is illegal there... at least, until the teenagers challenge the status quo. It's the wildly successful 1984 film, "Footloose", starring Kevin Bacon, Lori Singer, John Lithgow, Chris Penn, and Dianne Weist.
Zack's wife, Audrey Bennett, joins him for this look back at a film that, as popular as it was, perhaps didn't match the popularity of its own soundtrack.

Beverly Hills Cop (1984)
Axel Foley (Eddie Murphy) is a street-wise cop from Detroit who - against his boss's orders - goes "on vacation" to Beverly Hills, California to solve his best friend's murder... drawing the ire of the very by-the-book police department there.
Michael Yeager joins me this week to discuss 1984's biggest hit movie: Paramount Pictures' Beverly Hills Cop, co-starring Judge Reinhold, John Ashton, Steven Berkoff, Lisa Eilbacher, Paul Reiser, and Ronny Cox.

Teen Wolf (1985)
Scott Howard (Michael J. Fox) gets into a hairy situation when he discovers he's a teenage werewolf. He becomes the most popular kid in town, gets his dream girl, and becomes a basketball star...but does he lose himself in the process?
My guest this time around is my former boss, Adam Stanco. We discuss the cult classic in great detail on this episode of "Videoblivious"!

The Terminator (1984)
We're living in a world where artificial intelligence has become a legitimate threat. It's not 2023... it's 1984. But two mysterious figures have traveled back in time from 2029 to kill the mother of the man who will save humanity. They arrive naked - and bring all sorts of plot holes with them.
Keith Conrad joins me to discuss 1984's epic sci-fi/action flick: "The Terminator". A modest little movie that spawned a six-film franchise which still tries to justify some of the shortcomings of the original.
FUN FACT: The number of words in these show notes are greater than the number of words Arnold Schwarzenegger speaks in the film.

Lethal Weapon (1987)
It's the feel-good Christmas movie of the year... that was released in March. Two detectives - one a family man who's getting too old for this shit, and the other a loose cannon who's deep into grieving the loss of his wife - are paired up to solve a homicide, and instead get caught in the middle of a massive drug ring.
It's 1987's Lethal Weapon, and my guest to discuss it is Sebastian Posey (https://www.instagram.com/mr_seabass/?hl=en), an award-winning podcast producer and journalist who's had a deep love for this film since he saw it as a kid.

The Karate Kid (1984)
This episode of Videoblivious covers the sleeper hit of 1984: The Karate Kid. It's a movie about a son without a father, and a father without a son. And there's lots of karate... and 1984's version of an anti-hero. Also, some real jerks.
I welcome my best friend, Steve Reinker, onto the show to discuss this great film, what it's meant to him over the past four decades...and what it's meant to me since I saw it 36 hours ago.
Thanks for listening. You're the best around.

Dirty Dancing (1987)
This episode of Videoblivious dives into 1987's "Dirty Dancing" -- a coming-of-age film about dancing, forbidden love, abortions, and -- apparently -- the early-1960s Democratic Party. (Who knew?)
Award-winning journalist and "Jeopardy!" Champion J.R. Lind knew... He's my guest this week to discuss a movie he's seen "scores of times"; one that I saw for the very first time approximately three hours before recording this episode.
"Dirty Dancing" is not currently available on any streaming platform, with the exception of Paramount+ (but only when subscribed through Apple TV). You can find a DVD copy at your local library, or rent/buy a digital copy from various online media companies.
