Villains have always existed - throughout history, literature and visual media their presence is felt. Villains set the tone for the story, push the heroes into action - but time and time again we hate them. Is it because we were taught to favor the good - or we don't like the actor - or the character was written badly? Whatever the case, villains have drawn the shorter side of the stick. I feel it shouldn't be like that. I think villains should be appreciated. Join me as I go deep into to the world of villains to find what makes them great, for reasons you wouldn't even suspect!
Some heroes don’t stay heroes forever. Some of them become disappointed in the goals and ideals they once held so dear. Creating great villains is not an easy task - so it's not a wonder we don't always see them in the stories we come across. I've for one seen them all my life - and yet still managed to fall completely and utterly in love with villains. In this episode I tell you my story as well as why I think villains are so important that each writer should always focus on them first. Like Dan Brown said "Write your villain first because your villain is going to define your hero."
