Progressive Coaching, Pt 1

In this two-parter episode, we tackle the reality of Progressive Coaching, formerly known as "Progressive Discipline." Join us as we explore key strategies for approaching Progressive Coaching needs with compassion and confidence.

Our hosts focus on these core principles:

#CreateTrust: The Core Value. Progressive Coaching is centered on building and maintaining trust within the team and between leaders and team members. It's an opportunity for leaders to demonstrate their commitment to the growth and well-being of their team.

Distinction Between Written Warning and PIP. Progressive Coaching involves two distinct types: Written Warnings and Performance Improvement Plans (PIP). These should not be combined. Written Warnings address behaviors that need immediate and sustainable correction, while PIPs outline a longer-term growth path requiring more time and possibly additional training.

Support Over Termination. The primary goal of Progressive Coaching is to support team members' growth, not to set the stage for termination discussions. While there are cases where someone is not a good fit for the team/company, and termination becomes necessary – leaders are empowered to view Progressive Coaching as a tool to inspire development and positive change rather than one for punitive measures.

Listen in for practical tools and tips to equip you to utilize Progressive Coaching to strengthen your Team.
