The Way of the Sword - Wielding in the Wilderness

🎧 Philippians 1:6, “being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” 2 Kings 6:16-17,““Don’t be afraid,” the prophet answered. “Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” And Elisha prayed, “Open his eyes, Lord, so that he may see.” Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.” Hebrews 13:20-21, ““Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.” Ephesians 2:10, “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” 2 Corinthians 3:4-6, “Such confidence we have through Christ before God. Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God. He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant—not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.” Romans 8:37, “... in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.” Spiritual Care Ministry Are you struggling? Its about how Scripture influences the way we lead. In Hebrews and Ephesians, the Bible is called the sword of the Spirit, ’sharper than any two edged sword’. Hebrews 4:12 - For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

The Way of the Sword - Swords and Umbilical Cords

live.GraceOC.com Online church teams - GraceOC.com/eTeams PARENTS check this out! Resources for you and your kids and teens: GraceOC.com/Kids CollectiveYouth.com On Tuesday, Pastor Jarrod’s letter about reopening: https://mailchi.mp/dcc03df93cf6/when-is-grace-re-opening?e=efd8b13000 (https://mailchi.mp/dcc03df93cf6/when-is-grace-re-opening?e=efd8b13000) If you’re like me and are really interested in hearing about a date about when we’ll reopen, Pastor Jarrod said it well in his letter to the congregation, that with the moving target that is the government's guidelines and dates, it is not helpful for us to put a date on things ourselves. If you’re wondering what to do about the reopening information: 1. Lead together. There are people who will be excited for us to reopen and people who are bothered that we are even talking about it. Let us meet them where they are at, and love them. These are moments of leadership that will be remembered. See this document that came with Pastor Jarrod’s letter: https://mcusercontent.com/7fa5b06e71d41388fec80380e/files/8dc4195d-035b-4875-a3f8-7fe4e2c75e64/church_update_GCC_regathering_JJ_linkDoc_051920.pdf (https://mcusercontent.com/7fa5b06e71d41388fec80380e/files/8dc4195d-035b-4875-a3f8-7fe4e2c75e64/church_update_GCC_regathering_JJ_linkDoc_051920.pdf) 2. Pray. Please pray with us for wisdom and courage as we move forward as a church. We’re going to start a series here on the podcast: ⚔️The Way of the Sword⚔️ It's about how Scripture influences the way we lead. In Hebrews and Ephesians, the Bible is called the sword of the Spirit, ’sharper than any two-edged sword'.

Marie B with a Devo on Psalm 131

A devotional from the great and powerful, Marie B: How to Get Out of a Funk According to Psalm 131, a Psalm of ascent by David. #1: Choose to humble yourself. Psalm 131:1a: “My heart is not proud, Lord, my eyes are not haughty.” Getting out of a funk is heart work and heart work always starts with a posture of surrender. How can we do this? Empty ourselves and humble ourselves before God. Ask HIM to help you. #2: Choose to let go. Psalm 131:1b “I do not concern myself with great matters or things too wonderful me.” Let go of things we cannot control, i.e.: the pandemic, people getting sick, the economy, etc... What can we do? We cannot control these things, but we can control how we react and how we love others in spite of what’s going on around us. #3: Choose to be content. Psalm 131:2, “But I have calmed and quieted myself; I am like a weaned child with its mother; like a weaned child I am content.” Choose to calm and quiet our minds, and do not allow negative thoughts to run wild in our heads. How do we do this? Spend time with God, be STILL before Him, and find contentment in Him. 4. Choose to tell others. Psalm 131:3, “Israel put your hope in the LORD both now and forever more.” When we encourage others, when we share the love of Christ, and when we share the hope that can be found in Christ, we are more often than not encouraged ourselves. How can we do this? Live out the second Greatest Commandment: love your neighbor, and the Great Commission: Go and make disciples.
