A Neurosurgeon Explains What Pulled Him Back From the Afterlife

Chapters 00:00-Teaser 1:40 -Coming Back to His Body 9:23-Proof of Life Reviews after Death 12:15-Healing Journey 16:12-Consciousness and Technology What could make someone leave a beautiful spiritual realm and return to a body that doctors believed might never recover? In Part 2 of our conversation with neurosurgeon and near-death experiencer Dr. Eben Alexander, we pick up as he begins describing how his seven-day coma and spiritual journey came to an end. Dr. Alexander says he repeatedly moved between different spiritual levels, using the memory of a musical melody to open what felt like portals back into the Gateway Valley and into deeper states of oneness with the God force. Each time he entered the highest realm, however, he says he was told: "You're not here to stay." Eventually, those portals stopped opening. At the same time, back in the hospital, doctors told his family that his chance of survival had fallen to around 2%, with no expectation of meaningful recovery, and recommended removing life support. His 10-year-old son, Bond, overheard the conversation, ran into the ICU, opened his father's eyes, and repeatedly pleaded, "Daddy, you're going to be okay." Dr. Alexander says he could not physically hear or see his son in the normal sense—but somehow that pleading reached him. And for the first time during the experience, he realized that coming back mattered. His son needed him. In Part 2, we also discuss: Traveling through spiritual dimensions using music Why Dr. Alexander says prayer has real power The moment his son pulled him back toward this world Why we return from the afterlife Where true "soul work" happens What returning to the physical body felt like Why his NDE memories felt different from ICU hallucinations Research into life reviews after death Feeling the impact of how we treated other people Why the life review mirrors the Golden Rule The role of love and responsibility in healing The placebo effect and spontaneous remission Dr. Alexander's own recovery from severe bacterial meningitis Meditation and prayer in his healing process Psychokinesis and mind-over-matter How consciousness research could influence future technology and medicine Dr. Alexander also discusses research on life reviews, including reports that people may experience their actions from the perspective of those they affected. In his view, the life review makes one principle impossible to escape: How you treat other people matters. Later, we explore healing and consciousness. Dr. Alexander says his spiritual experience gave him a powerful reason to recover: he needed to return for his son. He connects that experience to larger questions about placebo, spontaneous remission, meditation, and the ability of mind to influence physical reality. And finally, we look toward the future. Could deeper research into consciousness eventually lead to new forms of healing, technology, or even psychokinesis? Part 2 pushes beyond the question of "Is there an afterlife?" The bigger question becomes: If consciousness really is more powerful than the brain, what are human beings actually capable of? A Neurosurgeon Says Science Is Proving the Afterlife

What happens when a neurosurgeon who spent decades studying the brain has an experience that completely overturns his understanding of consciousness? In this powerful episode of Vision Rebirth, Dr. Eben Alexander shares the near-death experience that occurred while he spent seven days in a coma from severe bacterial meningitis. Before the experience, he says his professional worldview was deeply rooted in materialist science. Afterward, he became convinced that consciousness is not created by the brain and that the spiritual realm is real. Dr. Alexander describes beginning his NDE in what he calls the "earthworm's eye view," a dark and primitive realm, before being lifted into a far more vivid spiritual environment through light and music. He recalls a beautiful woman on a butterfly wing, thousands of beings dancing, angelic choirs, sparkling pools, waterfalls, and a reality he says felt far more real than physical life. We also explore the scientific evidence he believes supports survival of consciousness, telepathy, reincarnation, life reviews, "deep time," and the idea that the ego is not the same thing as the soul. Dr. Alexander also shares his experience of what he calls the God force—an infinitely loving, intelligent source of consciousness that he says is never separate from any sentient being. In this episode, we discuss: The scientific case for the afterlife The bacterial meningitis that caused his coma Why he believes consciousness is not produced by the brain Telepathy and mind-to-mind connection What he saw during his near-death experience The "earthworm's eye view" and Gateway Valley The woman on the butterfly wing Angelic choirs and a world more real than Earth Why the ego is not the soul Deep time and life reviews Evidence for reincarnation Why past-life memories often disappear in childhood Whether deceased loved ones can still meet us after reincarnating Why souls return to Earth Where we do our "soul work" His experience with the God force Why meditation can help people access deeper consciousness Chapters 00:00-Teaser 01:56-Man of Science Who Believes in the Afterlife 07:14- What Caused His NDE 16:00-What He Saw During His NDE 20:09- What is Deep Time and Reincarnation? 25:55-Why we come back 27:45-Experience with the Godforce This conversation sits at the intersection of science, consciousness, spirituality, reincarnation, and life after death. If consciousness survives bodily death, then what we call death may not be the end at all. He Met God and Learned Why Souls Come to Earth

What happens when a five-year-old leaves his body—and suddenly remembers who he was before this life? In this powerful episode of Vision Rebirth, near-death experiencer Aaron Green shares what happened when he suddenly could not breathe while playing in a neighbor's backyard. Aaron says his consciousness separated from his body, and he watched himself collapse while floating nearby. Rather than feeling frightened, he says leaving the body felt freeing, peaceful, and more real than physical life. Once outside his body, Aaron says he could think more clearly and access spiritual memories that had been unavailable to him as a child. He remembered existing as an orb of consciousness among other newly created souls, being taken from what he describes as a spiritual nursery, and learning from God why souls are given free will and sent through repeated earthly experiences. Aaron says he also remembered choosing the body and identity of Aaron Green before birth. According to what he experienced, no one forced him into this life—he selected the conditions that would help him learn, grow, and complete the lessons he needed. We discuss: Leaving his body at five years old Why being outside the body felt good Becoming a clearer and more intelligent version of himself Remembering life before Earth The spiritual nursery where souls begin Seeing himself as an orb of consciousness Meeting a powerful being of light Choosing his body and earthly identity Remembering previous lives What God looked and felt like Why souls repeatedly return to Earth The difference between new and mature souls Why Aaron voluntarily returned to help humanity His guides hiding the NDE memories for 30 years Why faith was supposedly part of his earthly lesson The spiritual purpose of chaos and suffering Aaron describes God as appearing like an enormous sun filled with power, confidence, compassion, kindness, and every form of love. He also says mature souls exist in an intensely joyful state with God, while Earth functions like a school where less experienced souls learn that what they give to others eventually returns to them. According to Aaron, the hardship of Earth helps souls appreciate the spiritual realm—like leaving a mansion to camp in the wilderness and finally understanding the value of home. Did Aaron remember the process that brought all of us here? Are our bodies and life circumstances chosen before birth? And is Earth really a temporary education for the soul? Watch the full conversation and decide for yourself.
