Ep.5 - Drag, Real Estate, and Resilience: Navigating Inclusivity in Osaka
What happens when a background in special education meets the vibrant world of Osaka drag? In this episode, we explore the extraordinary life of a performer who seamlessly balances the spotlight of the stage with the professional world of real estate.
Join Owin as he chats with Aika about her "double life"—performing at Namba’s iconic nightlife spots while helping fellow foreigners find their home in Japan as a real estate agent. We dive into her inspiring mission to make the drag scene accessible to everyone through Japanese Sign Language (JSL), a project born from her roots in education.
Aika also shares her journey of finding love and engagement in Osaka, her reflections on navigating health challenges with the support of the Japanese healthcare system, and why she fell in love with the city’s unique "honest warmth." This conversation is a celebration of living authentically, breaking barriers, and the power of a community that welcomes every identity.
