Including those undertaken by French archaeologists Ernest Renin and Pierre Montet. The pair uncovered the archaeological sites of Byblos, located at the present-day site of Jebel on the Mediterranean coast. Pierre Montet also discovered a temple, the Temple of the Lady of Byblos. built in honor of the famous goddess Belat Gubal, whose construction is believed to date back to the third millennium BCE.
