Voice of Vocation is a podcast about calling, purpose, and the stories that shape how we live and work in the world. Through conversations, reflections, and lived experiences, the podcast explores how people discern meaning in their lives—whether they name it as vocation, calling, faith, creativity, service, or something else entirely. Rooted in the idea of Missio Dei, Voice of Vocation listens for how diverse voices participate across professions, and stages of life, creating space for reflection on purpose, responsibility, and vocation shaped by culture, justice, and lived experience.
On this episode of Voice of Vocation, we sit down with Benedicte Melle, a senior at Boston University majoring in Biology with a specialization in Behavioral Biology and a minor in Psychology. Raised in a pastoral family and shaped by a strong faith formation background, Benedicte reflects on her journey of discovering vocation at the intersection of science, faith, and human behavior. Together, we explore how behavioral biology and psychology can deepen our understanding of calling, identity, and the biblical story of creation. This conversation invites us to think about vocation not only as a career path, but as a response to purpose, curiosity, and stewardship in the world around us.

Calling as Redemption

Through honest and thoughtful reflection, this conversation invites listeners to consider how ideas like calling and vocation can emerge in unexpected places and how listening to the stories of justice-impacted individuals can challenge the ways society defines purpose and possibility.

Technology as a Mirror
In this episode, we sit down with Weijia Cheng (https://www.aiandour.faith/) to explore vocation through the lens of a life shaped by both technology and theology. Reflecting on their journey from a tech background to theological study, Weijia shares how their sense of calling did not emerge from a single decisive moment, but through a pattern of recurring questions, tensions, and experiences that gradually redirected their path. Framing technology as a mirror rather than merely a tool, they invite us to consider how our work can reveal deeper questions about purpose, responsibility, and faith. Together, we reflect on how vocation unfolds over time and how attentive listening to the needs around us and the issues that persistently surface may be one of the clearest ways we discern our Calling.
