<p>During our conversation, Bob Staples shares his personal journey of loss and advocacy following the tragic death of his son, who sufferred from schizoaffective disorder. The Brett M. Staples Brain Disorder Awareness Coalition aims to raise awareness about brain disorders, by addressing better advocacy through community engagement here in Maine.</p> <p>Legislative efforts are needed as well to improve acccess to treatment programs, while at the same time, costly legal fees also prove to be a barrier to accessing vital treatment programs.</p> <p>Bob also shares insights into successful legislative efforts aimed at improving mental health treatment, as well as a need for a more comprehensive approach in addressing brain disorders, such as educational programs in reducing the stigma.</p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p>
