Epocs Manufacturing: Automated Finishing and Secondary Operations
The episode highlights their full-range capabilities—from sheet metal fabrication and powder coating to silkscreening and precision machining—and explains how tightly integrated processes reduce lead times and supply-chain risk. A centerpiece of the conversation is the AMADA combo laser punch press with a six-pallet material handler, which enables lights-out production and dramatically boosts throughput, while also shaping a culture that embraces automation as a path to higher-skill, better-paying roles rather than a threat to workers.
The team emphasizes design for manufacturability, nested CAD-driven layouts, and proactive engineering feedback to optimize cost and producibility, reinforcing Epox as a true partner rather than a mere supplier. We also discuss education outreach, including tours for Colorado School of Mines students, and ongoing hiring for roles like quality inspector, material handler, and shop technician, underscoring a dynamic, cross-trained workplace.

Grease, Grit, and Growth: Armite Lubricants Survives and Thrives
Join hosts Mickele Bragg and Heather Kuhar at COMP 2025 as we sit down with Kathy and Mike Sandstrum, the husband-and-wife team behind Armite Lubricants.
