Voices of Trinity S3E3 | Articles of Faith With Matt O'Reilly and John Wayne McMann
At the 2026 General Conference in Johannesburg, delegates adopted a unified Articles of Faith for the Global Methodist Church. The document brings together the denomination’s historic Christian and distinctly Wesleyan convictions in one foundational statement of belief. This conversation will explore why that matters. Rather than concentrating primarily on the legislative process, Jason invites Reverend Doctors Matt O’Reilly and John Wayne McMann to discuss how shared doctrine shapes the identity, discipleship, worship, mission, and future of our Global Church. Matt and John Wayne share what it took for Methodists from across the globe to arrive at a common statement of faith. They explain why the Articles matter for what we preach, how we teach our children, and the way we invite others to know Jesus. The conversation also turns to a distinctly Wesleyan hope: God’s grace does more than forgive us. Through the Holy Spirit, God can heal our hearts and teach us to love more fully. You’ll hear practical ways to use the Articles in baptism classes, small groups, Sunday school, and everyday conversations. Whether you helped celebrate the vote in Johannesburg or are opening the Articles for the first time, this episode will help you understand what Global Methodists believe and why it matters in your local church. Watch the conversation, then read the Articles of Faith. Voices of Trinity S3E1 | Truth & Testimony With Our Conference Lay Leaders
What has God done for you? Season 3 of Voices of Trinity begins with a powerful focus on Truth & Testimony—the personal, lived reality and shared faith in Jesus Christ. In this episode hosted by Conference Superintendent Rev. Jason Burnham, our Conference Co-Lay Leaders Oscar Garza, Sarah Kreutziger, and Carl Brothers share real stories of everyday witness—from simple conversations to life-shaping moments of faith. Their message is clear: you don’t need perfect words or deep expertise. People are simply asking, "what has Jesus done in your life?" This is the heart of evangelism that is both deeply rooted in our Wesleyan heritage and also vital to the advancement of our Global Methodist movement today. In the episode, we explore: • How the Holy Spirit prompts us to share our faith in everyday moments • Why testimony is more about authenticity than expertise • The role of the Church—and the people in the pews—in shaping lives • Stories of faith formed through community, hardship, and lifelong discipleship • Encouragement for anyone who feels unprepared or unqualified to share their faith Throughout this conversation, one truth rises to the surface again and again: God calls each of us—and equips us—to be His witnesses in ways that are uniquely our own.Whether through a single conversation or a lifetime of presence, your faith story has the power to point others to Christ. Watch, listen, and be encouraged—your testimony may be the very thing God uses to reach someone else. Subscribe for more episodes of Voices of Trinity as we continue exploring the power of personal testimony and the work of the Holy Spirit in and through the people of the Trinity Conference. Voices of Trinity S2E6 | Luther Oconer: Wesleyan Holiness In the Global Methodist Movement
What does it really mean to be a movement of the Holy Spirit? In this episode of the Voices of Trinity Podcast, Rev. Dr. Luther Oconer, Conference Superintendent of the Mega Manila Annual Conference of the Global Methodist Church and Associate Professor of Global Wesleyan Theology at Asbury Theological Seminary, joins Rev. Jason Burnham to unpack how the Holy Spirit fuels Wesleyan holiness, mission, and revival in our day. Together they explore why Spirit-empowered ministry is normative Christianity—not an optional extra—and how the early Methodists modeled a “church of Pentecost” that stayed nimble, missional, and hungry for God. Dr. Oconer traces John Wesley’s own journey with the Holy Spirit, from striving for holiness through discipline to encountering a “strangely warmed” heart at Aldersgate. He explains how Wesley’s language of grace is really language of the Spirit’s power at every stage of salvation—prevenient, justifying, and sanctifying grace. The conversation dives into: Why Acts 1:8, Acts 2, and 1 Corinthians 4:20 still define Spirit-led witness today How the Holy Spirit works through the means of grace—Word, prayer, Holy Communion, and Christian community—to heal, assure, and transform us The role of repentance, faith, and holiness as core marks of a Spirit-filled Methodist movement How emotion, intellect, and experience belong together in “heart religion,” not in opposition to each other Dr. Oconer also shares powerful, real-time stories of the Spirit at work—from revival meetings in Qatar and the Philippines to new Global Methodist congregations being birthed in hard soil and on the frontier. You’ll hear how listening prayer, prophecy, and openness to “holy interruptions” are shaping leadership, decision-making, and church planting in the Mega Manila Conference—and what that might look like in the Trinity Conference and beyond. Subscribe to the channel for more Holy Spirit–focused conversations. Share this with a pastor, lay leader, or friend who is hungry for renewal in their local church. What’s standing in the way of the flow of the Holy Spirit in your life? In this powerful conversation, Rev. Dr. Madeline Henners—Assistant Professor of Contextual Ministry at United Theological Seminary and former pastor of 13 years—joins the Voices of Trinity Podcast to share how a moment of surrender transformed her faith and ministry. Dr. Henners invites listeners to rediscover personal revival through intimacy with God, spiritual disciplines, and an openness to the gifts of the Spirit. She and host Rev. Jason Burnham explore: What it means to surrender and make space for the Holy Spirit’s power; how the early Methodist movement experienced supernatural renewal The connection between holiness, deliverance, and freedom Why revival begins within before it ever reaches the church Practical ways to cultivate intimacy with God in daily life Whether you’re a pastor, lay leader, or seeker longing for more of God’s presence, this episode will challenge and encourage you to pray: “Lord, what’s in the way of the flow of the Holy Spirit in my life?” Subscribe for more Spirit-filled conversations from the Trinity Conference of the Global Methodist Church.
