About Voices They Tried to Bury
When the system meant to protect children protects power instead, what happens to the voices it silences? Voices They Tried to Bury is a documentary-style podcast that exposes the failures of the family court system through one mother’s fight for her daughters — and the truths it refused to hear. Hosted by Jacqueline Savage, this podcast shares stories of survival, injustice, and resilience from those disbelieved, dismissed, or buried by bias. These are the voices that refused to stay silent — and the sound of truth breaking through.

His Family Was Always Watching
https://linktr.ee/voicestheytriedtobury In this episode, i open up about what it was like to live under constant surveillance-where his family's watchful eyes and his lies made me feel like I could never be enough. The gaslighting, the blame, and the silence all chipped away at who I was. Disclaimer: This episode shares my personal experiences and may include sensitive content. Listener discretion is advised.

The Cracks I Refused to See
linktr.ee/voicestheytriedtobury It didn’t happen overnight. The unraveling came in whispers — in forgotten laundry, gaslit memories, and the eerie quiet of things I didn’t want to believe. This episode walks back into the moments I once explained away: the nearly fatal bathtub accident, the suspicious messages, the strange behavior around food — and the daughter who cried every time I left. This is where the cracks began to show. Where doubt started to grow. And where I began to lose trust… not just in him, but in myself. This is Episode 2: The Cracks I Refused to See. ⚠️Disclaimer: This podcast includes real names and events as experienced and documented by the narrator. It reflects my lived experience and is protected under my First Amendment right to free speech. All accounts are shared for the purpose of truth-telling, advocacy, and awareness. Before the Breaking
linktr.ee/voicestheytriedtobury Before there was a courtroom. Before the custody battles. Before the headlines and the heartbreak—there was just a woman trying to survive. In this first episode, I take you back to where it all began: the relationship that nearly broke me, and the pregnancy that saved me. This is the story of how I became a mother… while still learning how to survive myself. It’s raw. It’s real. And it’s the foundation for everything that came after. 🔊 This episode contains references to domestic abuse and may be triggering for some listeners. Please take care while listening. ⚠️Disclaimer: This podcast contains real names and events. I have chosen to use real names—including my own and those of public officials—because this is my true story. Everything I share is based on my direct experiences, supported by documentation, audio, and eyewitness accounts. The Deal That Would Bury Her Part 2
linktr.ee/voicestheytriedtobury He said he would settle. He said he believed me. Then he talked to her. Ben- “Why would telling a stranger something that might not be true matter to you? Why does it matter if you tell Lesley I don’t wanna believe Mia I need help. I need to work on it” In this episode, you'll hear the raw, unfiltered audio of a conversation with my former attorney- the day after he spoke to the Guardian ad Litem. What starts as a strategy meeting turns into pressure, manipulation, and a push to surrender. Surrender my right. Deny the abuse. Sign the deal. But this wasn't just about paperwork. This was about burying the truth- and me with it. ⚠️Contains strong language and emotionally charged content. Listener discretion advised. ⚠️Disclaimer: This episode contains real audio recordings, direct quotes, and firsthand accounts from individuals involved in an active Michigan family court case. Voices They Tried to Bury is a raw, unfiltered podcast that exposes what happens when the family court system silences the very people it claims to protect. For every child who wasn't believed. For every parent forced to choose between the truth and custody. We won't be silenced. We won't be erased. They Sent Her Back (5)
When Penelope bravely told the truth-again-the system had another chance to protect her. But instead of listening, they did the unthinkable. They sent her back. In this episode, I walk you through what happened when my daughter disclosed sexual abuse once more- and how, despite her words, her fear, and her courage, the same Guardian ad Litem, Donna, was reassigned to our case. The very woman who had dismissed my other daughter's outcry. The same woman my children no longer trusted. You'll hear the raw audio of my daughter Layla standing up to Donna, face to face. This episode exposes what happens when a child's pain is recycled through the same broken hands that ignored it the first time. Because this wasn't justice. This was retaliation. They sent her back- and expected silence. But we're still speaking. They Made Me Say It (4)
When a child is forced to recant, the truth doesn't disappear-it gets buried. In this episode, you'll hear Mia's own words in our home: a moment where she begins to unravel the pressure, the manipulation, and the fear that lead her to take back something she never should have had to explain in the first place. "Heidi put words in my mouth," Mia says- and everything changes. This isn't therapy. This isn't healing. This is a child fighting to reclaim her voice. You're Telling Us We're Lying (3)
In Part 2 of GAL Unsealed, Donna returns, seven years after my faughter Mia's original outcry. She brings donuts. Bagels. And a mindset that hasn't changed since 2018. This episode includes real audio of my daughter Layla-now 16- confronting the Guardian ad Litem face-to-face in our home. and it includes another moment...where Donna answers for the girls, instead of letting them speak. This isn't protection. It's repetition. And it's how a system silences the same children-again and again. Meet The GAL (2)
GAL Unsealed is a bonus mini-series inside Voices They Tried to Bury-a raw, evidence-based look at how the Michigan family court system handled our case...and who it chose to believe. In Part 1, I introduce the woman the court appointed to speak for my daughters: the Guardian ad Litem. She was supposed to protect them. But her report said nothing about their outcries- not in court, not on paper, not even if asked under oath. In this episode, I reveal what she did choose to write...and what she ignored. You'll also hear a real, raw moment- an audio recording that captures just how "safe" their environment really was. This isn't about revenge. It's about receipts. And the truth we were never allowed to tell in court. Disclaimer: This episode contains firsthand accounts, direct quotes, and real audio involving individuals connected to an ongoing Michigan family court case. No charges were filed, and no official findings of misconduct were made by the court. This podcast is based on my lived experience, supported by documentation, legal reports, and recordings. It is intended to inform and raise awareness- not to harass, defame, or threaten any person mentioned. https://www.gofundme.com/f/they-tried-to-silence-us-help-us-fight-back?lang=en_US&utm_campaign=man_ss_icons&utm_medium=customer&utm_source=copy_link&attribution_id=sl%3A8155445c-7398-4443-b82e-03a9fecf7d75
