#47 - Antoine Derody Antoine Derody is a humorously warm individual who carries an undeniable delightfulness, becoming a familiar musician in the Byron music, skate, and surfing scenes. He was drawn to Byron Bay after a memorable family trip. Of French and German background, he is frequently mistaken for multiple other nationalities. His openness and amicable presence allow him to easily connect with many musicians in the shire. He plays weekly at the Byron Bay Arts Factory, collaborating with both locals and newly arrived musicians. Often busking along Jonson Street in Byron, he contributes greatly to the community through music and surfing, and he enjoys putting smiles on people's faces through his humorous videos.

#45 - Denis Pierre Johnson A long-term resident of the Byron Shire, Denis first arrived from Sydney in 1959 and is now one of Byron Bay’s original hippies. A musician and a distinctive icon in the community, he is affectionately known as the "Byron Bay Einstein" due to his striking resemblance to the physicist — a likeness that frequently draws requests for photographs from locals and visitors alike. In his earlier years, Denis channelled his artistic vision into fashion, designing and manufacturing garments from authentic traditional textiles. This vocation was informed by his extensive travels across Asia, Europe, and Central America during which he also lived in some those countries . His immersion in these diverse cultures is reflected today in his multilingualism and his open, inclusive nature. A former Sannyasi, Denis once owned and managed a restaurant and music venue in Puna, India, where he navigated the vibrant—and occasionally intense — counter - culture scene. Upon returning to Australia, he ran a coffee plantation in the Byron Hinterland. His entrepreneurial spirit had been tied to a family history, rooted in his connection an established Australian beer James Squire, existed once upon a time.
