#22 Βιοαρχαιολογία και Κινητικότητα στη Βυζαντινή Κύπρο, με την Δρ Ευθυμία Νικήτα

Σε αυτό το επεισόδιο του Βυζάντιο explained συζητάμε με τη Δρ Ευθυμία Νικήτα, Αναπληρώτρια Καθηγήτρια Βιοαρχαιολογίας στο Ινστιτούτο Κύπρου, για την ανθρώπινη κινητικότητα στη βυζαντινή Κύπρο. Μέσα από το παράδειγμα του λόφου του Αγίου Γεωργίου στη Λευκωσία, εξετάζουμε πώς η βιοαρχαιολογία και οι επιστημονικές μέθοδοι μάς επιτρέπουν να κατανοήσουμε τις μετακινήσεις πληθυσμών και τις κοινωνικές αλληλεπιδράσεις στην Ανατολική Μεσόγειο. Συζητάμε το άρθρο της με τίτλο Human mobility in Byzantine Cyprus: A case study from the Hill of Agios Georgios, Nicosia και εστιάζουμε στις προοπτικές που ανοίγει η έρευνα για την κατανόηση του βυζαντινού κόσμου. Η Δρ Ευθυμία Νικήτα σπούδασε Αρχαιολογία στο Αριστοτέλειο Πανεπιστήμιο Θεσσαλονίκης και απέκτησε διδακτορικό στη Βιολογική Ανθρωπολογία από το Πανεπιστήμιο του Cambridge. Έχει διατελέσει μεταδιδακτορική ερευνήτρια στη Βρετανική Σχολή Αθηνών, στην Αμερικανική Σχολή Κλασικών Σπουδών και ως υπότροφος Marie Skłodowska-Curie στο Πανεπιστήμιο του Sheffield. Έχει δημοσιεύσει πάνω από 100 επιστημονικά άρθρα και κεφάλαια βιβλίων, καθώς και το εγχειρίδιο Osteoarchaeology (Elsevier 2017), το οποίο τιμήθηκε με ειδική διάκριση στα Association of American Publishers Awards. Παράλληλα, έχει συγγράψει τέσσερις οδηγούς ανοικτής πρόσβασης για τη βιοαρχαιολογία και τη στατιστική ανάλυση, που χρησιμοποιούνται από χιλιάδες επιστήμονες παγκοσμίως.
