Residents gathered outside the Ashland Public Safety Building to observe International Overdose Awareness Day with a solemn theme of Remember. Honor. Hope. Organized jointly by the Ashland Department of Prevention & Human Services, Decisions at Every Turn Coalition, Ashland Police Department, and Ashland Fire Department, the afternoon event brought community members together to honor lost loved ones through memorial flag painting, personal reflections from guest speakers, and a moment of silence. The gathering also emphasized proactive care, featuring peer grief support resources from SADOD alongside hands-on overdose prevention training and free Naloxone (Narcan) distribution provided by local first responders. ASHLAND, MA — The annual Illuminate Downtown Ashland event on Saturday, December 13, 2025, successfully transformed the downtown area, bringing art, music, and community spirit to local businesses. Eleven businesses and organizations — including the Federated Church, The Bagel Table, and Needham Bank — opened their doors to host the performances, community art displays, and special acts that defined the evening. The event was a collaborative effort led by Annemarie's Dance Centre, the Town of Ashland, and Arts! Ashland Alliance. Ashland Special Town Meeting ApproachingASHLAND, MA - Ashland residents are gearing up for the upcoming Special Town Meeting scheduled for Tuesday, November 19th at 7:00 PM at the Ashland High School. The meeting will address several important topics, including financial decisions, community issues, and bylaw changes. Key agenda items include funding for a water main project and a feasibility study for Waushakum Pond. Free childcare will be provided for families with young children.Additionally, the town is excited to welcome two new businesses: Chase Bank and Future Masters Chess Academy.
